The old lady is going to get to scoop the snow this time, I'm still in no shape for such things.

It is my 10 year replacement. I need a faster rendering machine to compensate for internet website bloat. Seems folks don't pay attention to the user experience and have tons of useless things on their web pages such as functioning javascripts for everybody and his cousins and brothers.

The new box has 16 times the main memory, 12.5 times the hard drive space and overall should be better than 30 times the speed of my current system. It also cost less than the one it is replacing.

I wondering if we are going to get a miss on the next one or if it will whack us good. No matter what I still have to do the snow work.

Would if I could, old sport. Just about anything sends me into what I could best described as an asthma attack despite not having asthma. Made three phone calls this morning and I couldn't breath after. Got a new rescue inhaler today to get me through this sickness.

It should be and things sure have changed in last 10 years. I think I can get through a few more operating system installs (Windows must go).

The equivalent upgrade to the last one I did would have have been under $375 but I went whole hog being the pig I am.

I hear ya, Jack. Believe me I hear ya. My wife and I both have allergies and she also has asthma. I also was walking around with one hell of a case of pneumonia one winter. You take it easy and have someone else do the shoveling.

5K on granite would be a no go here too. Check out some of the newer laminates, they look good and if you can install yourself (not my area of expertise) that can save some good money.

Same here...salary pay no extra $$ available there; tax return is all I can really use as well.

How do these people swing this stuff? My bills keep rising much faster than the paycheck. Went 6 years with zero increase there, finally got one this year but not even close to the rise in cost of living over the previous 6 years.

I've installed laminate before. It is pretty easy if you are working with square walls/corners, take good measurements, have enough hands to get everything into position.

Around the laminate companies charge $100 to come to your house and measure your countertop. Not a bad deal cause if they are wrong they eat it, if your wrong you eat it.

Well I am bringing in extra wood a little at a time again. These temperatures are making my boiler very hungry for wood! Fed the pellet stove at camp. Discarded mouse and reset trap. Got the little bugger.

Also doing laundry so it is done for wife. Her and kids can fold it and put it away. Kids have their work chores and will get increasingly more as they get bigger. Everyone in the family has to do some work for the family.

Wife and kids got two hour delay today for school start.

Time to bring some more wood in.

Stay warm guys. And happy burning.

Wife was a little upset with me for trying to weld with 102f temp. :emb: It didn't last long at any rate I went back in and past out after 20 minutes. Being sick sucks!

Also over size the top so you can cut it down to fit after it's laminated. That's what I ended up doing anyhow.

Took Mama out to breakfast as she had the day off from school, teacher development day, but she's a special needs assistant she had the day off.

Then stacked a few splits in prep for the minor storm we're supposed to have tonight/tomorrow and hunkered down with a great book, and some good music. Cold, raw day. Good day for staying home and reading.

The book is Radio Free Boston, the story of WBCN 104.1 in Boston, which started in '68. I started college in Boston in '69, so this was all I listened to as we blasted Blood, Sweat and Tears, Janis Joplin, Led Zepplin, The Stones, The Moody Blues, etc all over town.

This is a story of the 60s, underground radio, sex and drugs and rock & roll, Boston, the music industry and lot's of other fun stuff. But maybe you had to be there to appreciate it.

Did you know that Peter Wolf, of The J Geils Band was one of the first DJs on BCN? I would get out of school, and buy a GIQ of 'Gansett at the Westland Ave. Pharmacy, get back to the apartment and blast the music.. and light up. Those were some days.

This was the Peter Wolf's theme song he'd open the show with.
