Awesome picture Dennis. Only wished I could have gotten there. Glad everyone had a fantastic weekend.
I would like to see this on the front page of our forum for a while. Then add an album to the gallery of each of these Get togethers.
Okay folks, we've had a little break. All guests have left. We've re-sized a few pictures but will try to get more done later. We wish to thank all who came. We've posted a group picture earlier but I'll post another and sort of introduce everyone in the picture. Front row, left to right: Bentley, Diesel, Mrs Turbodiesel, Ruger. Second row, left to right; tfdchief Steve, Buddy, Mrs Chief, BrianK , Backwoods Savage, Mrs Savage, HDRock, amateur cutter Adam, Gary_602z, DexterDay, bocefus78 Chris, Barcroftb Brad, Eric VW, walt, Tim (BrianK's son), Mrs BrianK, Ron and Rose, our wonderful neighbors to whom we'll be forever grateful as they went over and above what could be expected. We all owe them a debt of gratitude for what they did for this party. Carrying on, Shawn Curry, Redneck, Randy, Pyroholic, Matt, Frank and Beans Kevin. Not in picture is Pallet Pete, neighbors, Pete, Jody, Kelsie, Lucas, Phoenix, George and Carl. I'm sorry but my mind is still whirling and I'm not sure I've named everyone. I think our final count was 31 counting myself and the ornery one.
The gang began arriving on Thursday with tfdchief, his wife and Buddy, and very soon after came Turbodiesel, his wife along with Ruger and Diesel. Friday saw Walt, Eric, DexterDay and Shawn Curry arriving. Walt really amazed me as he lives in Ohio but was here by 8:00 am. Seems he was on the road by around 2:30 am! The rest arrived Saturday. But even before that, Ron and Rose helped tremendously with helping to set up tables and chairs (theirs!) and bringing in about a ton of food plus grills. We should also mentioned Ron put one of his tractors to good use moving some of the trees from his place to our place. Friday was a very cloudy and cool day. Saturday morning we woke up to a very frosty morning and we had 28 degrees on our thermometer but it was sunny and turned out to be a great day indeed. Folks began arriving and we didn't hit the woods until around 10:00. Adam, Brad and Walt headed to Ron's to cut down some trees out of Ron's front yard and they did a great job. Walt hauled most of the trees with his log arch then Ron hauled a couple untrimmed trees which graded the road and lane nicely. It is difficult to remember who all did what but most were kept extremely busy including myself. I have to admit I have not been that busy for that long for a long, long time. One has to wonder just how much work everyone done. Personally, I spent a lot of time on the atv just running from one place to another. I had so many requests for things that I simply could not keep up. For example, one time DexterDay requested that I bring some gas for his saw. Sad to say, I got so busy before we knew it, we had to quit for the noon meal. I took some ribbing for not getting his gas but....I was too busy. I do remember that at one point I was interrupted as I had to cut a tree that Ron was moving because as he turned off the road onto our sand lane, the tractor just started spinning. Then I was off to do other things. Probably forgot to do some and simply didn't have time for others, but it was all good. I wear a fitbit thingy and although I spent most of the day on the atv, it showed I also walked 7 1/2 miles that day! Didn't know I could even do that any more. We gave a special thanks to Ron and Rose earlier so now let us also give a special thanks to @Andy Baker. DexterDay and Eric VW stopped at his bakery and Andy generously donated some excellent baked goods for the gtg and they were delicious! TurboDiesel RV proved to be placed just about right as it blocked some light but cold wind especially on Friday. That is an amazing RV too and Tim also is an excellent drive as he had to back out our 100 yard driveway and he handled it nicely. It was sad but funny that when he arrived, he had to put his truck in 4 wheel drive to get to our place. It seems our county has done a very poor job of keeping up the road and after the rain on Wednesday, the road was a real mess for a mile. We had several dogs during the GTG and they proved to be no problem and were very welcome. TurboDiesel had 2 dogs that were excellent and Ruger was so full of energy he was amazing and he also put on many miles just going beside me when I was on the atv. He also has a special liking for water bottles and also could easily be trained to help someone moving firewood as he loved to bring branches to everyone. bocefus78 brought Bentley who is excellently trained and he and Ruger played a lot. Buddy was a little shy at first but soon got into the play routine with the others. Jackson, amateur cutter's dog also got into the playing. Carl's dog was here only for a short time. Food. Good Lord! We had food! Whoops. I tried to upload a picture but for some unknown reason it won't let me upload right now. Perhaps this post is too long. I'll start another.
If anyone went away hungry, it was their own fault! lol This morning Judy fixed Pancakes and sausage for everyone here. We sent many away with extra food that was left over.
Unknown bodies we found when we woke up. Notice one on the left. Yes, there is a body there... At least it wasn't as noisy as the previous night. I had gotten up in the middle of the night because I had heard some strange sounds. As I came down the hallway, I then could detect that someone was getting in some practice sawing logs. One guy even got up and went to his car where it was quieter. I don't remember for sure who it was but think it was Barcroftb who couldn't sleep. More later folks.
Yes it was me. But I will take to my grave who was doing the snoring! The food was top notch! Rose Judy and the gang kept us very well taken care of!
Backwoods Savage I'm a little sorry we didn't get more done for you. Maybe you can make it an annual event and we can have some more fun..... err I mean get some more fat stacks put up for you next year!
It was a blast. I wish I could have stayed later. It was my first gtg. Great people, great times, great place to have it and great food. What more can I say?
