Been able t get 2 trips to the cutting area.
Was out cutting, fell the birch & skidded a log to the truck, came back & moose was already eating on the tops.

New (to me) dual axle with brakes is a big improvement, except finding a place in the wood to turn it around. Will try to get some pics of it loaded.
Near 2 cords so far. Weather & other stuff slowing down my firewood plans.
Pic of the birch (on carpet ) I have home & the empty pallet row with ground cloth under them.
Have split about 1/2 of it since pic taken.

We often have coyotes circling the landing after the saws stop and the beers open but never have to fight anything that big off what we are cutting. Never thought about Moose being one of the reasons to not cut alone:)

    Thanks all

Been burning for about 2 weeks now. No hot fires but burning 24/7 on low.
Have had snow but it melted . But could be more anytime.
Clear nights , it'll be frost covered,
lately; warm low pressure areas, one after the other, keeping daytime temps in the 40s, .

Hoping to one year get a "cow tag" for the area I cut in. I see moose there on a regular basis.
I put in every year but not drawn yet, some day I'll get lucky.
They are not afraid of the ATV or the saw, but run off when I fall a tree in their direction. :)

    Rain again today :(

Boy, wouldn't it be a terrible tragedy if one of the trees fell on a moose.
I mean, you'd be obliged to take care of it, right?
    Here moosie, moosie.

I got out early this week Dave to start some cutting and then worked on some splitting I left from Spring. I'll start working soon on hauling in 18/19 wood (if this new stove works the way it should) but hoping for a little cooler weather. Stay safe up there.

Grass is still pretty green Bogy but it looks funny to see the trees without leaves because they are just getting into some color change here.

I can't believe you guys working on 16/17 or 17/18. Man, I don't know how you get that far ahead. I have my hands full keeping 1 full year ahead. Nice work Dave!

How many cords a year for you Gas ?
I never dreamed I would be as far ahead as I am but the last 2 years I've cut like a mad man. Not completely intentional but the farmer I cut on bought new ground and cleared a lot of trees. He is always in a rush to get the ground tillable so if you don't get it he will dozer it and burn it. Then last year on top of that a good friend had a neighbor log and wanted that cleared. I was cutting and hauling every chance I had. Of course I have always tried to stay at least 2 years ahead.

I burn about 9-10 cord a year now that I am heating my whole house, garage, and DHW. Maybe that is why I have such a hard time getting years ahead. How many do you burn a year?

9 or 10 would be hard to keep up with. My old stove as a slammer install was about 5-6. Put an insulated liner in cut it to about 4-5. (last year mild winter/ 3.5) I am hoping for 3-4 with my new stove this year.

Dave, that view never gets old. That snow is moving further down the mountains. Gotta be getting really cold soon.
