The crack is repairable by any good shop; it is the problems inside the engine that will probably mean it is a through-away as parts have gotten expensive these days.

No, the crack is a problem too, cast aluminum, it will continue to get worse.. even if repaired....

Not if you take it to the correct shop; to make sure the stress is relieved drill a small hole at both ends of the crack; Dad taught me this. Then you can fill the small holes when you have the case brazed. The problem is that the crank is probably shot and the connecting rod is most likely what caused the crack in the case when the bearing seized; just a guess as I have not looked inside of the engine..

Just called F&F and the new engine is being installed this PM. I might be able to get it home by the weekend.

With all of the acronyms floating around here, it is hard to know.

Boo Boo all better now. Pretty good service at F&F. Brought the splitter in on Monday, they had to order the engine, and it was done on Friday. DSC01597.JPG DSC01598.JPG May get a chance to see how it works this weekend.

I split a little bit of red oak today and the splitter runs fine. It starts easier than the Tecumseh.

A swisher that i own has a similar engine, it has become

SHHH I don't want my new B&S to hear that:rofl: :rofl: :whistle: I struggled for years to get the old engine running, especially when it was cold. Having it sit in the sun for a little bit helped a lot in getting it started.
