Theres a few guys in my area that buy them on credit and sell them for whatever they can for the cash. To then purchase what they need.

 

That 661 ad, the pics look awfully similar to the ones the chainsawguy has on his EBay listings.

With a tree service, I'd drag his azz out a bed in the early AM, and if it took handcuffing him to the chipper feed bar all day……….
he'd be running the chipper till he's sober. How has this oxy-heroin thing gotten so out of control? This chit was around when we were kids also, but it was no where near as common and widespread as today. I think giving it a "title" and calling it a sickness is a big mistake.

 

I do not think it is a sickness but a choice that they make. Just like any substance abuser. But I have seen many a parent struggle with a child with these problems and it is not always so cut and dry.

 

Scrap catalytic converters can be worth some chinga. From $10 to $550. They contain 3 valuable elements in them: platinum, palladium, and rhodium. The premium ones are found on diesels. Even non-diesel cats can be worth good money, in the $100-200 range.

What are they fishing for how does it work?? Do they want people to actually pay them with Google wallet or whatever they always tell me or a money order?

What I can't figure out is how the scam works on the ones that I get when I sell stuff. Tell me to keep it till the cert check or whatever clears then their guys will come to get it? How is that a scam?? If I get the money and it clears sure you can have it!!

 

Since craigslist keeps your personal details behind a wall, they are fishing for your real address, real email, phone #, etc. Whatever they can get.

As far as that other scam something always comes up where they need a little money from you to be able to send you the cert check. Then if you fall for it once it keeps escalating and they keep asking for more to get the deal done.

 

They'll respond saying "they can't meet up in person blah blah" send the money and they'll mail the saw.

 

Again. Who would fall for sending money to a random person for them to mail the saw or meet up later????

I mean maybe if your really old and confused but I can't see it happening that often.

 

Yup, it's me. Firewood Bandit is more appropriate handle for me now days. Traded a Corvette for chainsaws. The latter is much cheaper and holds value better too.
