Well I have two routers in house that can run DD-WRT, both are NetGear units a 3700v4 and a 4500. Only USB2.0 ports though. Neither is an AC unit. I have the highest rate cable internet service I can get. This is the sticks folks it is a wonder I'm still not on a 300bps modem conected via POTS. But I can serve a pile on the 192.x.x.x side of the house.

Netgear R6250 here...plugged it in and it runs as many devices that come into my house. Don't know if it's a good or a bad unit, but it works for me!

That has a 16% 1 rate, I suspect it suffers from several issues one of which may be hardware and several software issues of the memory leak type If you attach a large number of files via a large hd to that USB port it may cause sporadic failures of several types all related to memory shortages, the failures may range be from dropping devices connected via wifi to a radio going out or one or more of the ssids going absent, to reboots of the router. Been there done that with no recourse to fix the issue via my own means. At least the 6250 isn't a combo router DOCSIS 3.0 modem. My wanting to get rid of a wall wart was a total exercise in futility. I can't remember if that unit can run DD-WRT.

There is a theory running around that the lack of proper cooling is leading to early PA circuit failure.

I have been a user of NetGear products since they were the folks known for their little purple boxes. Until this last go round I hadn't had a single issue I couldn't get around. It was quite a shock to see the mess.

Hey I just got rid of a router I got to use with the Smart TV in Jan of 2014 it maxxed out at almost my current internet speed on the 192.x.x.x side. It was the third NetGear unit I had owned. Have been through 4 more since, two of which were Combo Units. I'll get one to play with if the price to me is under $50 the one I'm on right now was a refurb.

The R6250 is on the list as it runs DD-WRT.

Maybe some sprinkles tonight. We need it, my bike is coated with that gritty trail dust and it gets into everything.

It is very dry. We have fire warnings here.

I had a near miss tragedy yesterday. I took the chimney down for cleaning. After reassembly I started the stove to make sure the joints were well sealed. I let the stove run for about an hour after which I went out to dig some compost into one of wifey's flower beds.

SMOKE on the ground under the chimney cap. A smouldering mess right against my foundation.

MY FAULT !!! I had not gotten around to cleaning the pine needles around the house.

Normally I still have snow on the ground in that area well into May, (one of the reasons I put the stove in that location). Sunday we are getting the cement mixer out and by days end there will be a six by 4 pad centered under the cap as well as a new frost free faucet sticking out of the foundation.

I also have on my list of spring to do's ripping off a 36 wide swathe of the wood siding above the pad and installing a cement board to which I will install tile.

As an extra special treat, after raking the needles away and soaking the ground to flooding I discovered three ticks on my arm. A simply stellar day. :hair:

Well the Prepaid Fedex return label arrived today so in our running around tomorrow the C6300 will be dropped off and I'll be rid of it, meanwhile I got a new router headed this way that will be in on Saturday. Brings the USB up to 3.0 and has 1300 AC on the 192.x.x.x side for the 5 giggle band, the unit can also run DD-WRT. Any bets on if it works correctly?
