The center was left open to drain. What you can't see is all the bruising on the side and rear.

damm, that looks awful. You must have been swinging damm hard for that to happen. Hate to ask, but were you wearing shorts or jeans? Guessing there is no way you had chaps on. Scary, get better soon!!:dex:

Haven't worn shorts since I was a little boy. Carhartt bibs. No saw, no chaps. Don't know if chaps would have helped much. ER Doc couldn't believe how deep it went, over 4cm. Said, "you must have extreme upper body strength to drive it that deep", to which I replied, "I have done a little bit of hard work in my life". LOL.

Guys, I'm not gonna try to kid anyone, it was/is bad BUT, I have alot to be thankful for.
    1. I didn't pass out, if I had I would have bled out. Through unbelievable pain, the Mercy of Christ sustained my strength.
    2. My cell was in my bib pocket, I don't always carry it, and the closest neighbor answered on the third ring.
    3. I had a clean handkerchief in my rear pocket to use as a compress.
    4. It didn't hit my ankle or knee doing serious damage to a joint.
    5. My neighbor covered a 25 minute drive to the ER in 15.
    6. My oldest daughter and I have talked for the first time in 2-½ years.
    7. All the neighbors are pitching in to bring in food, mow the yard, work on well problems we discovered when we got home from the hospital, feed livestock, etc.
    8. I was able to visit with and give encouragement to a man that needed it while in the hospital.
    9. I have seen again how God blessed me w a saint of a woman for my wife.
    10. I have people praying for me from all across this "land of the free and home of the brave", I cherish so much.

    I am VERY THANKFUL!!

I will still use mine, just will change technique. I've been around logging, firewood, TSI work etc. since I was 14, accidents will happen. Like my wife said "you can't live your life sitting in a chair".

Well it's already caught me twice and I haven't owned it a year - don't think I want to know if the "third time's the charm". I grew up on a farm, so I've been around firewood and dangerous equipment all my life. One thing I've learned not to do is "push my luck". I got by for an awful long time without one.

I never really liked it anyway - if I don't hook it deep enough, the split falls off and catches me in the knee or toe; or I hook it too deep, and then it's a struggle to get the split back off. And then you get those splits were it just doesn't want to hook at all, but you don't want to set the tool down so you end up whacking it over and over again.

That is why I use it mainly for unloading my truck.

Shawn, I do not use ours for picking up splits. It gets used for rolling logs to me, rolling logs onto the dray or even rolling small ones as you buck up the log. That's about the extent of usage ours gets. For picking up, I've not found anything better than the log tongs.

I just decided that I will not get the picaroon I thought I wanted. I can so see me doing that to myself.

I am thankful to hear of God's blessings.

Keep the spare pain pills. It does not sound like you have a tendency towards addiction, so let them sit in your medicine cabinet, you may need them someday. (Some will disagree with this, but I am OK with that. Self medicating is not a criminal act.)

WWW had old tramadol pills from our dog that passed from cancer in his hunting pack. The pills were far expired, but the older guy in hunt was more than grateful for a pill while they literally carried him out by hand and foot 8 miles to the helicopter for bad kidney stones. Stuff happens.

I unload my rounds from the truck on a slight hill, all I need is a iron rake to get them rolling to me. And the long handle of the rake lets me reach the whole truckbed. As far as having unused pain killers, the fact that you have some left means you're not addicted and most likely not gonna be. My feeling is to save them for a disaster like a tornado that wipes out a town and folks are badly injured and EMS is delayed or overwhelmed. If I'm laying there for hours severely injured waiting for an ambulance, I'll gladly take a couple of 6 year old Viocodin over nothing.
