Martinsville is a depressed area; the two major industries were textile and furniture and both are gone. If anyone is a Nascar fan and watched/listened to the last race held there, they may have heard something about a grandfather clock. There was a company that built grandfather clocks and one was given to the winner of the race; Ridgeway Clocks. Now they just say grandfather clock because the company is gone. To the North of Martinsville is Bassett; once a huge furniture company that is now just a ghost of what it once was due to the Chinese market killing the furniture industry.

Yes, and endangering others on the road by using a vehicle in a way that it was not intended to be used. If you don't have a truck, you can rent one and keep yourself and others safe.

As far as I know, there are no written laws or rules as to what one can and can't carry on a motorcycle. But speaking of dangerous, just riding a motorcycle could be the cause of some serious injuries or cost you your life.

Yesterday on my way home from town there was this silver car coming towards me in the other lane. Then it started inching over into my lane and the more she inched over, the further to the side of the road I went. Finally she is all the way in my lane and I'm getting ready to take to the ditch. She looks up moments before and goes back in her lane. Yep, she was TEXTING! Thankfully I didn't have to take to the ditch or get hit for that matter.

Imagine being hit by an oncoming vehicle while on a motorcycle! Over the years I have had many close calls such as that. Some I wasn't so lucky though I'm still alive. You want dangerous, just riding a motorcycle could cost you your life regardless of how safe a rider you are. And if I happen to be carrying something sharp that comes lose after I've been hit and impales the driver of the vehicle that hit me, it couldn't happen to anyone more deserving. However, the chances of anything I carry coming lose is slim to none because I secure my load.

Do you think I'm 2/3rds crippled because I was born that way? No, my dear, it is because of the many times I've been hit by some inattentive driver. They were either talking on a cell phone or texting! BTW, I do have a pickup truck (2001 Dodge Ram 1500 w/6 foot bed)

Now if your remark was retaliatory due to the comment I made about running cooking oil in your 2 free to you chainsaws, it's a totally different area and not near the same thing. BTW, did you know running chainsaws were dangerous.

    All seriousness aside:
When your entire family wants to go for a ride, what do you do? Of course, take them with you!

Nope, I'm not done yet, but I have reached the limited number of pictures I can post in this message.

Going on a trip and not sure what you'll need? Why not bring everything you can imagine? After all, it never hurts to be prepared!

To be reprimanded for going to be hauling a chainsaw and an axe on the back of my bike with bar oil, fuel mix, another bar, along with a hatchet and extra chains in my saddlebags? Ummm, yeah!

I think my favorite is the guy with the cow across his lap and the motorcycle has a mud flap that says "smart move". I mean you gotta love it.

Oh by the way I am 65 and still riding my Harley. 1989 soft tail springer.

Most likely not a pin oak. I've never seen one yet with very few knots. That is one distinguishing feature of a pin oak; tons of limbs and the lower limbs usually point down.

Have fun! Sounds like a fun trip too!

Wish I was closer! I've got a year new 661with a 28" bar that I haven't put 4 tanks of fuel through yet! It could for sure use the work out!
