Hi guys! There is a plethora of chainsaw videos and tips on the internet. As a newbie I try to educate myself. This time its my chainsaw that needs some love and care. I would really appreciate if you could share some links to good sources for basic chainsaw maintenance. Text and or video, it does not matter. Its not hard finding stuff via google, but I am hoping you guys can provide some "quality assurance" if you know what I mean. I might take some pictures of my efforts......
I found, Donyboy73 "Don the small engine doctor"on Youtube to be very helpful. He has videos covering everything from basic chainsaw maintenance to complete rebuilds.
+1 on donyboy73. This should fix the link to the excellent site RCBS posted: Chain Saw Guide Bar Maintenance Its a great site with lots of other repair/maintenance info: Pro Saw Maintenance & Repair Menu
A good, concise book on care & feeding of 2-strokes: http://www.amazon.com/Two-Stroke-Engine-Repair-Maintenance-Dempsey/dp/0071625399 Lots of details, including pix, on diaphragm carbs. Worth the price there alone. Even if you've worked on 2-strokes for years, there's more good stuff to learn.
If you want to educate yourself find some old saws take your tools and start making praxis on them its the best way to make you better
Are you looking for basic maintenance info (fuel, sharpening, chain tension, filters, etc) or are you looking for more detailed repair and overhaul guides?
Grab your popcorn. Maybe a blanket and the Mrs. because she's just gonna love this.... The basics, chainsaw 101, in an hour.
