So the weekend here is supposed to be perfect for cutting, 60-70 and sunny. Maybe even a little warm. My plan is to block up several trees, yielding roughly two cords of blocks. Splitting will commence next weekend. I will provide an update Sunday night or Monday with a picture also. So whats your plan, and lets see an update later
Change tires; studded winter tires come off, and summer tires put on. Oh, you mean wood-related...? Sent from my iPhone so pardon any autocorrect bollocks
The weather is also going to be great here. I'm considering sanding and staining/sealing the deck. We planted ground covering under the deck so I'm hesitant to use deck cleaner. I'm done cutting wood until next Fall.
Want to get two more truck loads from the National Forest - that will finish my permit. Would like to fell two large dead trees on my property and do some splitting but all of that is a bit ambitious. Kids have activities going on this weekend too so I'm not sure how much time I'll have.
I wish I was like some of you guys and done cutting until fall. I try to space mine out some to avoid some of the painful honey do list items.
Well today removed chains and blower from kubota.. Snow tires to summer car.. little worried too early but i hate sound of studs at 70... filled potholes in drive to soft to box blade yet.. Brother is coming up so hoping to finish splitting my wood and get stacks started... here's pic of rounds since we all love pic.. s
I don't make plans for weekends, I just do what I want, when I want, half of the time I don't even know what day it is That's how it is when you retire, I don't wear a watch anymore either
I'm hoping to finish milling the Black Walnut at my sister's, but I need some help from my Dad's loader tractor before I can make any more progress on that. He's been dragging his feet on it a little - too cold, too wet - hopefully this weekend he'll be out of excuses. If that falls through, I've got plenty of other wood stuff to work on. The dead tree just over my shoulder in my avatar pic is an English Walnut. It's starting to drop large branches any time we get a decent gust of wind. If it's too windy for that, I'll probably work on some restacking to get ready for this years CSS.
It's supposed to be a fantastic weekend here as far as the weather goes. Most of what I will do this weekend will depend upon what my body is able to do. Almost have done too much so far this week but when the weather finally broke and we stopped getting rain and snow, I finally was able to get busy outdoors. So much to do, so little time! Today I got one of the gardens tilled then packed it too. By the time that was finished, I had planned on tilling the other garden but my body simply gave out. So that is why I'm sitting at the computer now. Also just finished off a Ten Penny Bit Ale. Ah! Didn't take long to down that thing either!
Ha! Bert. We can finally almost match you in temperature this weekend as we are forecast 70 and 71 for Saturday and Sunday. Even tomorrow is supposed to be 65. Probably back to reality before long though.
I took tomorrow off to extend my enjoyment of the first nice, dry weather spell. There will be some splitting, some cutting and hopefully some skidding being done over the next three days. We are drying out, but the pile of blowdowns I'm after is on a really soggy trail. I'll find some wood to pull somewhere. Other than that, may have an evening outdoor fire or two, maybe get the scooter out and go for a ride.
Here is what I did today - Neighbor trimmed his trees last week and gave me carte-blanche to harvest whatever I wanted. Pic shows what I cut & split today (wood piled on the ground) using my trusty Fiskers X-27. I left the axe in the pic for scale. Unfortunately it's Willow - But.... free wood is free Btu's. I might get some more over the weekend - supposed to be nice.
Roll my lawn and the lawn at my property, rake both driveways, and then mow my lawn and my mother's. Hopefully there will be time to add to the "What are you drinking tonight" thread!
Cut the back lawn and change the oil on my wife's Honda CRV. Providing my lower back don't hassle me anymore ....
