This was my grandfather axe that I found in his shop, he's been gone 20 years now. I wanted to use this but it's been beat a little. I tried to file the back where it was mushroomed from being used as a wedge. Also I noticed that the eye is out of shape and looks like there is a crack in it. So I decided to try and polish it and worked on the handle. I like to eat the handle turned out after some sanding and Linseed oil. I probably should have gone farther on the grinding and sanding of the head before polishing it. It has a little more of a shine than what the pictures look like. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Excellent work. The handle has a real nice color to it, and it looks pretty stout.

I believe this is the manufacturers info. I had to look it up as I never heard of them. Any other embossings? Maybe where it mushroomed?

    Very nice looking ax, Shurdel!
It would be nice to use for a while just knowing that it was your grandfather's, but I think it would look great hanging next to the wood stove... retired.

Here are some more pictures. I still need to make a wedge. You can tell the eye is out of shape.
Also, I don't like to eat the handle. It was supposed to say, I like the way the handle turned out. I have to proof read before posting. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Grinding? Were there sparks involved? That is a very cool old axe, but I would not consider it for service. I would think that they eye being that far out would make it hard to get "the hang of it". I agree with TurboD, put it on the wall to admire.

    Mann is good stuff!!
