Yup that's Stanley Works alright. With the ''sweetheart'' logo from 1920-32ish which honors a certain Mr. Hart who was company President some years before that....Most anything with that logo is in demand & usually has a bit extra value wise to it.

    Hand tools,advertising/catalogues/memorabilia,you name it

    Dumpster find.
    Drawers wouldn't open.
Cam latch wouldn't raise all the way to unlock drawers. Put in a sheet metal screw to hold it in position.
Box looks to be unused . Also had a drawer handle missing. When the drawers opened it magically appeared!

I would think there would be so much of That stuff around That it cohldnt be worth money. Or is it that it's all in houses or its been trashed over the years? Your talking 10+ years of production of one of the largest tool companies in america. One would think they made tons of that stuff in that period. But I guess that's depression era so maybe not as much was being consumed and produced?

This Stanley rule was in the box with the other tools pictured above. It folds in 2 directions.

Ok , so this is not a tool but I figured one of you guys would know what it was. IT was sitting on my wife's grand dad's toolbox at the house though!!

She said it always sat by their fireplace growing up. It had gas logs though. The end of the thing with the handle has like a ceramic ball on the end of it. The top has a notch in it so The handle can hang out of it with the top on. I have no idea what it could be for? She said is it for putting kerosene or diesel fuel on a fire?? I honestly am lost...I am not even sure it goes with a fireplace. Her parents are city people and don't know much about any kind of stuff really.

I joked that it was like a pope thing for holy water. 20160403_193855.jpg

So you really do fill it with diesel and lay it in there and light it or something?

While I have bought a bunch of stuff recently, this is the best of the lot, a Blue Point 1/4" set.

You should bring it to the GTG, so you can bless our chainsaw congregation with 2 stroke mix!

Here's a couple of my latest ebay scores. A few sets of Starrett outside calipers and dividers, Starrett machinist's rule, Starrett drill/wire gauge (which I plan to use as a dowel-making plate), and a 4" Lufkin combination square.

But I'm really exited about the auction I won last night. A lot of 12 vintage hand saws - including 4 Disstons, and a Simonds, all in pretty decent shape - paid just over $6 apiece. Looks like a variety of ripping and cross cutting saws - probably grampa's old hand saw collection that nobody wanted.

I have Dad's or Granddad's (Mom's side) folding ruler. It's made by Rabone of England. There's a pair of genuine Robertson screwdrivers of Mom's here. A #1 green and #2 red, wood handles, patented 1936. Granddad probably bought them along with a set of 4 nested brass screwdrivers.

Parts organizers. I already have a bunch of these but they are handy and free is the best ,,, right.
One of the drawers had a scrench and chain. Some nuts bolts and other hardware. Also found some stove door gasket . New in package. Cement tube was petrified . Threw it back in dumpster.
