Compared to what else I have available. I think these will be fine. The beast will eat em even if they are ashy! Just hope they have good heat, But pretty sure they will be fine.

HD had 23(13 being GS) tons and the manager said he had 2 trucks due next week. Had no clue what brand was coming though. He just had no more GS's on the order sheet.

Edit: Last seasons were hotter @262°F and this seasons are 255°F. Still better than the other chit the boxes have. Prolly get another 25 this Wednesday. ;)

Just got back from running some errands and stopped at HD and grabbed 3 bags of Heat Resource. Never heard of them, but bag says premium grade, oak, from Arkansas. I'll have to check out the product key later. Anyone heard of em ?

Seems to be a lot available around here. Two kinds at TSC I think I saw @$199. Saw Maine woods and greens t at lowes. I think there has been a more stable conversion to either pellets or wood from oil. Not the push from hell in 2008. There is now natural gas in the area, but no one in any rural areas will get that service even when the line runs right past their house. Most of those who will be getting it are now burning oil or propane. Those folks are taking major hits. All the schools, hospitals and commercial places are converting to natural gas. Oil remains as expensive as ever.

I was at Lowes Friday and I didn't see any MWP's. I saw GT and Maine Choice. Interesting, though, that HD doesn't have any MWP and are selling FSU's and AWF's.

How'd you like the AWF sub? Edit, I read your thread. Hopfully it will get cold enough so you can get a good feel on the heat.

We sell Rocky Mountain Pellets where I work. They are apparently having to deny 17 loads until they get more material to make them with.... We may or may not get our next order. I guess... or was told it's because the lumber mills aren't getting the demand they need but, I can't say anything for sure.

hey, sorry, been busy, finding prospective mates wit me club!

While I cannot agree that there is a shortage, I can say there might be localized shortages, depending upon how picky you are and where you live. We probably have somewhere around 5-600 tons of product on the ground of varying brands- 7 currently- and one or two brands are simply "sold out" due to either they just selling all their production, or, in the case of some other brands, their contractual commitment to the Big Boxes sometimes supersedes the lack of buying commitment to the hearth shops.
frankly, I'd like to have a little less product at this point, but its looking like a cold downturn is coming this week, and we'll sell em

I guess the fast answer is, there might be localized shortages, but if you cant find your regular brand and are willing to try another, you should be able to get product.

I heard Rocky Mountain got bought by Confluence Energy. Not why they had issues. But made it interesting for a bit.

I haven't seen the rockies since my bigbox test. I liked them and the fact they were using beetle kill logs.

14 outside right now and 71 inside. Blower on max, heat level a little over 3. Ash levels good. With the temps we've got coming this week, I'm going to push them as far as I can.

I asked at HD today if they were having trouble getting pellets because the 2 brands they have, AWF and Heat Resource, I've never seen before. I was told they aren't having any problem getting pellets, just certain brands like FSU. I find it interesting, though, with 4 pellet mills in Maine, they're selling pellets from Maryland and Arkansas. I drove by their outside storage and saw 8 tons of the Heat Resource and maybe 50 tons that I couldn't identify. I was told they wouldn't run out of pellets but 60ish tons in inventory didn't exactly convince me.

Lowes in Maryland said they can not keep up with demand. We are having the coldest winter in years. They were out of presto logs, so we got pellets from Home Depot today, 5 people lined up waiting to be loaded with pellets. I am impressed, all the store are doing a good job with the demand. Lowes now has AWF, that is next on my list to try.
