It is very hard to buy good furniture today. Most everything is made for the mass market disposable economy.

My wife is an antique dealer. Most everything in our house is old, but comfortable, suited to its purpose and obviously long lasting. Interestingly the old stuff is often less costly than new and is made of solid wood with quality cushioning. Course sometimes a piece needs to be repurposed to meet a modern function. That is often fun though.

Most of this stuff only needs to be bought once. Every several years if you need a new look just change fabric.

LOL, our did not have any springs-anywhere-period- None in the cushions or underneath. Here is a pic of it upside down waiting for the trash pickup. Cushions, one layer of nylon weave (like weed barrier) with velcro strops, then the black squiggly supports, and the two bars. Thats all there was:picard:

I regret tossing our old leather couch and loveseat. It was analine leather and CRAZY comfortable. We bought the set in 1997. It was used and abused and way too big for our new home. I should have taken savemoney 's advice and atleast had the loveseat reupholstered. But I did not. I guess we are now in the disposable furniture game. Not in a position to spend that kind of cash again like we did in 1997.

No rhyme or reason to be had from this odd weather. We got told how this is the warmest winter in many years, and breaking all records. Then we get told this is the 3ed coldest day in April since records have been kept. Ugh!

Years ago we had a sectional that one of the cats had scratched the back of. Same area had a wood piece let go just like tis one that was under warranty from Green Mountain Furniture. I spoke with the repair manager who said that the fabric general wouldnt be replaced unless the wood piece poked through...hint hint ;).

Well the fabric was replaced under warranty too

Luckily most of it is gone and should be all gone by tomorrow. Thursday for sure with showers/rain.

Might can opening day and head out sunday instead. Looks like it will be much warmer on Sunday. Take monday off to recoup!

This place has great furniture, very well made and made in USA. Expensive, but it will last forever if taken care of. We stopped going in because we like the furniture so much, but cant afford most of it. Although I did get my sectional sofa there about 5-7 years ago and it still in good shape-albeit no young kids to help it along.

I think the best value for furniture today is the buying "mission style" furniture. Nice solid wood furniture with simple lines. Uses upholstered cushions. So easy to maintain. Reupholster the cushions or replace them. Easy to buy from different outlets and the furniture is timeless.

Raised 4 of them. Boys are the ones that tear things up. My girls liked their things.

    2 + 2 here in the past.

The girls broke little the boys about everything.

Each got the same BD present from me upon reaching age --- A set of luggage and one way ticket to the destination of their choice. Only problem was their mom snuck a return ticket into their luggage.
