You need more info on the valve the line is hooked to and how it's plumbed in. If it's setup for a single-acting cylinder with a typical open center valve like what's used in a log splitter, then it's just a matter of running another line ands sticking a quick coupler on the end. Does the valve have 2 or 3 positions? Forward/Neutral vs Forward/Neutral/Reverse
Is anything equipment related cheap anymore? Seems like you spend $5000 for something and it doesn't come with the $1000 control you need to operate it. I have my old Russian tractor that works great just keep adding hydro fluid. Put an international loader on it built some forks to swap with the bucket and a bunch of old 3 point stuff. She's far from winning a beauty pageant but it works.
For joe homeowner attachments are expensive but if your working the machine they are priceless. I paid $5500 for the big grapple on my loader and had a hard time writing the check. I'd do it all over again. That grapple has uses I never dreamed of.
We've got a 410E at the resort with a similar bucket setup. There is a set of forks around there somewhere and when I get back to work I'll see if I can find some info on it. Who is the JD construction equipment dealer up there? I have to use 5 star for our JD heavy equipment because JD ag isn't able to get most parts.
I'll ask our hydro engineers and one tech that service and engineer the mobile division at work. We do work for all sorts of anything hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electronic. From lawn tractors to mining rigs, OEM ( Cat forest products, is a customer) to aftermarket. I'm pretty sure this is considered a Cat forest product. I'm sure someone at my work has intimate knowledge of this beast. I'll let you know what I find out.
But skid steer attachments are likely to be a bit light-duty for that machine. Hence I would have some reservations about converting it to SS mount. My recommendation Gas? Cozy up with a good welder/fabricator and find out what he likes to drink. When I worked on this stuff, we had a guy employed in the shop full time. He spent a good portion of his time fabricating/repairing buckets for loaders, hoes, and excavators. Forks, attachment conversions, he did it all on the spot. Does anybody make generic attachments that you simply weld on whatever/wherever you need to attach?
Agree on the SS duty attachments being LD. The salesman at Blue Diamond really stressed this. Glad I went with the extreme duty. If all you want is a grapple for moving brush. You could have a thumb fabed up petty easy for the top of that bucket that could bolt on/off when not needed. Even if those are single acting hydros it doesn't take much weight to hold a wad of brush.
Agreed. When I had my grapple on the Kubota I got a lot of work done with it! I MM? My neighbor's brother, who works in the building next door, is a retired welding/machinery teacher. He drinks Milwaukees Best. He fabricated up that last grapple I had. But it cost me a good chunk of change all said and done. I will figure out some way to make it easier to do all the work I have to do on the property in the years ahead. I am just trying to not spend much money.
Ya. I already found that before I bought it and found and bought operators manual and parts manual for it. Catch up Horkn.
If mine had 4 wheel drive and quick connect I would have considered putting the grapple on my hoe. It would have served me better on that machine than the loader. Now I have to switch machines and its a PITA . Close quarters and a bad layout of my facility makes it time consuming. Almost sold both machines in 2012 and bought a big Komatsu WB97S-5 but I was debt free and for a big payment I was willing to tolerate a little PITA.
I did think about a mechanical thumb for the backhoe before JustWood , but decided against it. I have so much stuff I will be moving over the coming years thinning this 81 acres of woods out, logs, brush, landscaping, firewood, etc. it just seems much handier on the front of machine. And more carrying capacity.
I don't know if he was right about that being a JRB Q.A. system. I found the dimensions on the Internet for a JRB 416 series and it shows the bottom pins being 2.12 inches . ? My bottom pins are 1.5 inches. ? I would assume the JRB 418 to be bigger.
