    Happy belated birthday!!!

Did the power company re attach the lines to your house? I had a tree rip them from the house during a big storm about 10 years ago and they did not, even after calling to have them come back after they took care of the tree laying on the lines. I actually never lost power, just had the lines on the ground across the front yard. I had to hire someone to re attach ( I dont like messing with live power lines)

Lost cable and the cable company out their line back on the house when they repaired the line.

    Very nice Will!

You have excellent repair skills there - my sheetrock/mudding repairs look like one of those 'clay candy dishes' made by a first grader.. But the first grader does a better job, 'cause they ain't drinking Beer while working (I hope).

Don't worry Will - now that you 'own' that repair, any subsequent issues within a 10 foot radius of the shower head will immediately be blamed on -you-.

Cold, raining and very raw outside. but in here, the stove is going and we are toasty warm! Gotta love those stoves for making a home comfortable. Even the pets enjoy the stove!

Look at it this way, it could be worse. I know, it could also be better. The winter is always hard to let go of. One thing I have learned, it is Memorial Day before it is really safe to set tender plants out. I have cheated by using plastic shelters. Amazing what can be done if you protect plants from the highs and lows.

    They did.
That was the issue... The strain relief pulled the anchor out of the house.
They just put another anchor in, and restretched the line.. When all of these wires were ripped off,
one of my tall shrubs actually kept them from hitting the ground.. None of them broke.
But the cable, and phone people ran new wires from the pole, as the wires were old,
and that is their procedure when making that sort of call.
Replace old wire... Plus the new phone wire is more useful for high speed internet,
which I will never go higher than what I have now.. they also put on a new box on the house,
which has both data and phone lugs, rather than the old "sharing" lugs..

That's cool, Fairpoint did the same when we lost ours during the Ice Storm of '08, really made a difference in DSL reliability here.

This is the little guy. I am gonna see if it runs through the UPS without tripping it to battery.

I also have a Champion 3500 watt that can be had for under $300 on sale at TS. This one will run all day and not trip the UPS, son I have no issue running anything off of it if necessary.

If power quality is a worry for you . Champion makes inverter generators that get great reviews and are a fraction of the cost of a Honda/Yamaha.
