I am aiming at making my defensive training with my ccp more disiplined. I am also planning to see how high I can qualify with Grandpa's .22 Springfield rifle using the Winchester/NRA program.

What are you working on this year?

Training is my top priority this year. I have already taken a defensive carbine class, and have a Combat Focus Shooting course scheduled for the end of next month. After training is ammo.

I think I might get one of those evil black rifles.

I was planning on filling a lawnmower with explosives and shooting it from less than 50 feet away, but I recently learned that is not a great idea.

I think a cleanup and revamp of my reloading gear is a wiser goal for the year.

Training is on-going, but after my wife shot my G19, I may be purchasing another. Maybe for Mother's Day? Oh, and btw, my wife is awesome. If there is enough room in the budget, the boy may get an M&P 15-22.

Tonight I am going to begin 3-5x a week dryfire drills, depending on if I make it to the range or to the camp during the week.

It is amazing how much quality training you can get from dry fire drills. Just remember that some things do not mix with any drills, even "dry" fire. I had a buddy that was not "dry" during his drills and ended up with a hole in his wall.

Probably the same goal I have every year-shoot more. I became a fair pistol shot several years ago- was able to keep 5 out of 5 shots on a paper plate at 50 yards. I was able to shoot a doe at 42 yards after that training- made me as happy as shooting a big buck!
I also want to improve my off hand rifle shooting.

My goal is to get my wife out to the range more- to build accuracy and increase her comfort with her pistol.
My other goal is to have her shoot the 380 Christmas present enough to "break it in."
Less than 200 rounds through it, and it's still a little prone to jamming.......

For me, I'm not going hog wild this year.
    • Try those lil' Aguila Minishells in 12g. They just look cool
    • A G26
    • Couple of SR-22's if I'm lucky
    • Reloading equipment
    • Ammunition
    • Attend Front Sight next fall. I missed last weeks training due to work but the guy's had a blast and learned a lot! Next fall another trip is planned.
    • Accurize at least 1 of those .243 single shots (hence the reloading equipment- too much free bore in them)
    • Tune the .300 WM parts gun, a must.
I'm sure I'll get it all done, with all the free time I have, 'ya know.

I plan on a bunch more off hand shooting (hunting rifles/rimfire) this year. I'm guilty of benching more than I should, but the real magic is to shoot good while standing. Don't matter if the rifle shoots bug eye groups when you stand and can't hit a pie plate at 100 meters.

More offside shooting as well, although I usually practice this quite a bit more than the average guy. As a left hander, it comes in handy when teaching newbies for them to see the same side manipulations rather than figure it out.

I also plan on getting out to the range more for restricted class firearms like the AR's and handguns. Up here you can't plink on the farm with them.

I'd like more 3 gun action, but too much range politics/drama/bs going on.
