My last 4 tons of $99 pellets were supposed to be delivered next Saturday. But this morning I got a message from the Lowes delivery guys. It starts out, "I know we were supposed to deliver pellets next weekend but . . ."

Oh, oh, dang. But wait, what is the rest of the message?

"We were wondering if you would take them tomorrow. We have a driver, and we know it's Easter, so you may not want us there. . ."

I called them right back and said bring 'em on! While I was talking to the guy he said they were trying to empty the lot so they could get their spring stuff in. Works for me and sometime between noon and 4 pm, I'll be ready to :heidi: :vulture:.

Got both stoves cleaned up today. God those ThermaGlo's throw some ash - the P61's ash pan was nearly full after only two MILD weeks. I had been mixing the TG's with better pellets, so never truly realized how bad they were.

Then started cleaning out the garage, which in the process meant cleaning the shed out so it can hold both the snow blower and the mower. I've never had to put them in there before, but with pellets filling the back of the garage, they gotta move so I can bring the bike home next weekend.

Suddenly realized the shed won't hold both machines as I have an old garden tractor in there taking up half of the 8x8 floor - and it's taking it right out of the middle of the shed. So, I did what any sensible person would do; took some pics and put the tractor on CL for a nice low price at 3:30 pm. The tractor hasn't been started since the Ex dropped it off 2 years ago (can't really use it in this yard and I enjoy the exercise from mowing), so it's of no use to me. Should be gone around 8:30 in the morning. If not, someone else will be here at 11. And failing getting my asking price from either of those two, a guy just called from MA who is definitely interested and told me not to take a penny less than asking price. I probably priced it much lower than its worth, but I wanted it to move and I did put in a $$ amount that I would be happy to take. It will definitely be a win-win situation.

Hauled one of my tons down to the basement today then cleaned the stove. That was enough for these old bones so I took a nap. The other ton my have to wait until next week unless I withhold Easter dinner until the boys haul the other one down.

I notice my NO's have a date up in the top left hand corner of the bag of 11-15. If that is the mfg. date, at least they haven't been sitting outside sine Sept. I checked the FSU's I have and they have a date in the same spot, 08/2014. I bought 3 tons that fall so I assume it's the mfg. date.

I read somewhere that is the date the bag was made. Whether that info is correct or not, is anyone's guess. At any rate, whether that is a bag date, or a bagged date, they are pretty fresh.

Word I got from the Mill reps is its the bag printing date. And bag filling could be months later.

Now that is a royal PITA !!!

What did you use for a new fitting and how was it connected? was it solder time or some kind of clamping fitting?

Thats the brand I had in mind too.

How well do these types of repairs hold up? Being inside a wall, I would want to be sure there are no leaks.

I ask because I have no experience with soldering on water pipes and would really appreciate having some options that will work.

They work well , I used one for a shut off valve on my hot water tank , going strong for 5+ years now . I ran the water several times , before I started to patch the wall , no leaks .

Good to know....thanks for testing it

That would really suk if the shut of valve connection failed....I sometimes worry too much about that kind of stuff and tend to not trust it. But if they didnt work well, the units wouldnt be sold for this long.

I used a shark/gator bite, under a raised floor in one of my hubs on a water line, that feeds a humidification system on the hvac unit. It's been there 4-5 years so far and no issues but I wonder for the long, long term if they hold up (I HOPE SO!)

My tub water spout on the upstairs bathroom moved side to side as well as in and out and has been this way for years. It is obviously not secured to anything any move. From the basement, I can see the first floor setup and it has a wood block wedged between the wall and the water pipe and secured with a cheap plastic clamp from the water pipe to the wood block as a way to keep the block from falling out.

Upstairs wood block has obviously fallen out. Only way to fix this is open up the wall. I have been lucky for a long time, with it not getting damaged at a joint but that wont last forever.

Yeah, which is why its still not done. No excuse, but with no :heidi: living here to worry about and no kids to pull on it I have managed to "forget" about it far too long :emb:

Nice fix Will - last time that happened here it was a 3+ day project peeling back the plastic tub wall surround, installing a new tub/shower faucet, and replacing all pipe w/ CPVC, blah.

Steve, I got one of those shark-bite ball valves downstairs in the crawl space, it has to be like 10+ years old now and is still the best looking fitting down there - no worries.

Got to "Hop-on-down-the-Bunny-Trail" soon (driving youngest back to school) Happy Easter & Safe travels all !
