Happy to hear you are coming Redneck . Will you be coming alone or hooking up with someone? HDRock is also from your area so that could be a possibility. For sure bring a saw or saws. HD is bring a splitter and we'll have at least 2 more so should be okay there. Don't think we'll need a generator unless it is a small one that is fairly quiet. I have one but it is not quiet. So far only one RV needs electric but we can hook him up okay with an outside plug-in.

On the PM (private conversation), on the upper right corner of the screen you'll see your screen name, Inbox and Alerts. Just click on "Inbox." Or when you get the invitation to join a conversation, there should be a link there to click on which will take you right to that particular conversation. If you have problems yet, post here again and we'll get you there.

    I'm in!

Shawn Curry do you want me to bring my alaskan and mini as spares? I've never used them yet but you are welcome to!

    Saws I'll bring: 361 and 066

Cooler: Busch light, water, coke, and bourbon

Dennis, what can I bring to help with food?

What time are people showing up?

bocefus78, we expect people most any time. Some are coming the evening before. Some won't be there until afternoon. Who knows?

By all means. we are counting on you for the mill.

Food? The only thing I know right now is we'll be cooking hamburgers and hot dogs. I know a neighbor lady is making a couple salads, cinnamon rolls (at my request. Yummy!) and pies along with some other goodies. Meatballs is another. Probably some beans. Hard to tell what else. Oh, one thing is I've special ordered some Polish bread from Andy Baker (Sadly he can't make it to the gtg). There will be chips. Celery, olives, cheese, maybe some bread sticks. Possibly some bannock to cook on the bon fire.

I guess for food if you can think of something special you like and others might, we'll welcome it for sure.

The more, the merrier! If you havent used it yet we'll have to fix that. I've never used one of those minis but I would like to try that out.

I'm bringing a lot of my firewood cutting toolkit too, including a sawbuck or two. Doubt ill be bringing much food though - might be a little cold by the time I get there. :D

I'm planning to arrive Friday evening but it might be late by the time I get there. I've got a new tent and air mattress and I plan to camp overnight Saturday and leave early Sunday morning.

    Can't wait!

I will bring the mills. I don't have rails so a ladder or something will be needed. Shawn or dennis....suggestions?

I won't be able to bring rails either. Hopefully someone local will have a ladder? Some fairly straight lumber could be used as well - the mini mill can ride on a 2x4, right? Could use that to establish the first cut, then once we have some lumber made use that as a reference.

I'm told all the mini needs is a straight piece of lumber, yes.

I can bring a ladder if dennis doesn't have one, but 4.5hrs of the wind whistling in the rungs may drive me looney.

I'm also hatching an idea how we might be able to build the granberg rails on site using the parts from 2 mills. I've already gone the other direction and used the 9' length rails as the mill body. I think well figure something out.

A little shot of spray foam in those noisy rungs stops the howling;)

Been following this for a while, just asked my son if he would be interested in going for the day ( we are about 2 1/2 hours drive) he said "sounds like fun".
So we are seriously considering it, we would come up in the morning and head back home in the afternoon or early evening. If we come, tell me what we should bring such as food and equipment. I may have to wait until a few days before to confirm but as of right now is looks good. I'll need some specific directions sent to my inbox so you can find ya!

I am bringing a gigantic can of bushs baked beans, 2 huge bags of tortilla chips, huge jug of salsa, and a huge can of nacho cheese. All these items are foodservice sized (massive) from gfs.

I've got a couple foil trays for the beans and some disposable serving spoons too. Zero cleanup woohoo!

Let me know what else is needed.
