Video is semi graphic. I've personally never shot the stuff but i know the required safe distances are clearly stated on the packaging. This guy was definitely in the danger zone
I don't understand why someone would want to be so close to a Tannerite explosion. If you can't hit it standing further away than 40-50 feet, you need to improve your shooting lol. And as heartless as it may sound, I don't have much sympathy for someone who goes looking for trouble.
Very fun stuff, and yes, 100 yards means 100 yards. Loudest thing you ever heard short of military armaments. I've always used it as a target as intended.
he has a lot of company and will continue to do so. There are no controls or laws to fix stupid. In same way, most of us will admit to some episodes of being "stupid" and grateful that we came out of it ok. He paid a huge price for his recklessness.
I'm not even sure I feel sorry for this guy. The directions say 100 yards...He was 43 feet !!!???!!! That little "show" to put on YouTube could have just as easy cost him or one of his buddies their life. I'm really kinda surprised the stuff is legal. Seriously. Every year the NHTSA and a whole host of other alphabet soup agencies come up with new laws and standards to save us from ourselves. But it's ok to buy explosives and shoot them? We can't buy fireworks that make a pop but its ok to buy tannerite by the pound
Just think of the ingredients that go into explosives. You can buy them about anywhere. Go to the net for instructions etc. But be careful. there are filters that will get you watched. if certain words or word groups get used.
I agree but all you have to do is go to Gander Mountain and get it. Legally Tannerite Exploding Rifle Targets Propak 10 10 1-lb. Targets-618969 - Gander Mountain
It's not legal in every state. Maryland won't let us have it. I'd love to try it out sometime, though. A buddy has shot it and tells stories. Sounds like a good time. I feel bad for the guy, but there is that whole 'personal responsibility' thing. He's blessed to be alive.
The explosion itself wasn't even the problem. Besides being too close, he stuck in in a lawn mover to create shrapnel. Pure stupid is hard to legislate away.
Good point Buy explosives, hide it in metal object, then sneak up on it and set it off... what could go wrong?....
Yup, well said! You can't fix stupid sadly! I feel for the guy "truly", but not the action that got him there.
I'm just surprised there was no fireball from the 20 gallons of gasoline that im sure was near the mower for "dramatic effect", and sadly our govt is trying to protect us from ourselves with legislation.... The peoples republic of Maryland... PRM is a stones throw away from a dictatorship... Seriously chitty state to live in or travel through.
OMG!!!... Never heard of that stuff.. We used to fill milk jugs up with water and shoot them for fun.... But that's just crazy..... Especially the shed that blown up...
The reason it's legal to buy is its status as a binary explosive. It is not an explosive until you mix it and unlike TATP it takes a strong cap to set it off. After it is mixed, it is illegal to transport without proper certification.
I've shot it before. That stuff is loud. I was closer than 100 yards too but I didn't jam it into a lawnmower. At 100 yards that bottle is real small without optics.
