I ordered a new '74 Nova SS with a 350 4 speed from Hawaii just before I got discharged. It was sitting in the dealers lot in my hometown in NH waiting for me when I got out. Not quite the oompf that the late '60's cars had, but still could get up and go.

In 1982 I bought a 72 Torino with 351 Cleveland engine - paid $800. Had the Starsky & Hutch paint job, with white base and green stripe. Loved that car and it would boogie all the way from Wichita to Albuquerque and back (made that trip several times to visit my mom). Sold it when I was getting ready to move up here.

LOL On the 4 legged companions!! That's awesome, especially that they donr bother you and are there to make you feel better :)

I hope the meds are still chugging along and helping you daily. I can identify having a rather unpleasant procedure for a narrowed urethra several years ago. This was minor compared to what the Dartmouth doc described that I may need in the future if it comes back. I was off my feet for 2 days and uncomfortable for a week. The other option will put me out for 30 days. My local doc wouldnt allow it to be done anywhere but Boston or Dartmouth Hitchcock where he put me in the hands of the head of Urology to do this.

My girlfriend at the time, had gotten one also that year. I really enjoyed driving that Nova.It had some nice power and balance. They still capture my attention when I see them about! My '69 Charger looked great, but was a beast to drive. Between the Charger and the 750SS, somehow I always attracted the attention of the wrong sort of, well, really nice folks when I was driving. Nowadays, I have people pizzed off that I drive too slow.

I dont drive too slow now but I keep it civil. I like my insurance to not be as much as my mortgage and do not miss watching my license points all the time.

As much as I love muscle cars, my favorite is still my old '87 Mazda RX7 Turbo. That thing was a beast and the sound of that turbo was as intoxicating as a loud exhaust. Quick and nimble as all hel l and regarding speed....lets say that it cruised with ease over triple digits and topped out more than mid way between 1 and 2.

I sold that car to help with a down payment on the house. Growing up is tough......

Put a fart can on that and you'd fit right in with the young crowd!! :O
    :D

I had 2 that I really enjoyed besides the Mach 1's(70 and 73-both had clevlands w/4 spds). Had a 1980 Mustang Turbo w a 4 speed that zipped pretty good for a 4 popper. The 1973 Mercury Capri with the 2600cc V6 w/4speed was peppy and a mizzer on the petrol. The beer run buggy in its day. 4 peeps and a truck full of genny cream. Gosh I'm surprised CRS hasn't got those memories!!

Belated Thanks for that Larry - excellent article.

Ambient: Thanks much for that info. also - we may consider trying a winter crop rotation this year.

With the raised garden beds here, we compromise: pitchfork / aerate, shovel -> break up, sift through garden screen & remove all worms (wife's job), add some manure, a little 5-10-5 fertilizer, then roto-till it all together, then re-deposit worms, and rake back down and water. We try to do this at least 3 weeks before seedlings are planted.

This works for us here, helps keep plant blight down, and keeps the wife happy w/ planting the 4 garden beds at 8x16 ft.
    * Wife knew it was way too early to start tilling, she was just busting my chops, what else is new.. :picard: :D

But I did end up checking out the (small Mantis) tiller, and ordered some maintenance parts for it, so that's cool.

We don't use any chemicals on the lawn or garden: haven't for many years w/ kids, pets, and well water..

    Hope you're feeling better Larry!

Agreed, but at 135K, I would have to "settle" for a Dodge Challenger

I love the mantis. I owned two of them. gave them away because they were so hard to start. bought another brand. Not as good, but that one starts. That mantis is a beast. Hit a rock and it jumps up like a scared cat. I had a rear tine tiller that failed. then bought a less expensive front tine that does the work I need done. Just not as smooth as the rear tine tiller. actually now like the raised beds and cloche gardens. I do vertical garden where ever possible. weeding is done with a hula hoe. If you don't have one, get one. best weeder ever. Get a really good one with sharp edges. You will never regret one penny of your cost. upload_2016-3-24_11-36-44.png go a Amazon they have a nice one Flexrake Hula-Ho cultivator with 54 inch wood handle.
