What's up today (bullchiting) thread.

Pouring rain this afternoon so just sitting and watching curling. also getting a some knitting done as well.

 

Got the early stuff planted in the garden. Did some dirt work up at the neighbors house. Oh...and I went to work today too. Time for a shower and a barley pop.

 

Caught my first gopher this year. Hanging from the fence as a warning to the others. Bwahahaha !

 

Ye be warned.

 

I brought a few loads of beech uglies and elm pieces for tomorrow. We don't have a fire going now, but when the cold rain and snow hits tomorrow evening, we'll be all set.

 

Just so y'all don't think I'm a creeper lurker (not saying I'm not, just trying to prove it), here is what I did this afternoon.

This is the top end of a big'ole honker that got dropped last year. 5 ft. wide (approx) at base, maybe 35 foot longish, but I am a bad judge of spacial areas.

My buddy and I were in the basement working when it fell, it shook everything, it was truly amazing.

We c/s/s half of the trunk last year, but didn't burn near what I thought we wood (pun intended).

So now we are finishing this thing off for my neighbor, but have no clue where to hoard it all. I'm relatively urban compared to a lot of the folks here so this is going to be a challenge.

 

Well, I think its Red Oak. But then I think positraction on a plymouth works because "it just does", so perception of reality is subjective.

 

What's a Plymouth? Is that a species of bass?

There is another big slab of this and a huge slab of what I think is white oak.

Really wish Hoarder Brother Curry would come to visit with his alaskan mill (and bring material to build me a deck). I bet there are some pretty pieces in there, but don't know if its worth the time, or the last thing about it for that matter. Even thought about buying one myself just for this job.

Thinking it would make a nice countertop. And how cool would it be to have local (my neighbor) lumber as a fixture in my house.

Fun fact, my other neighbor gave me the lights off the front of his house, extremely weathered, and I plan on using them as fixtures inside, very chic (as they say). Having a local tree slab in here would be even cooler.
