Yep, will be interesting to watch, if nothing else. I have 2 year's supply (or will when my final 4 tons is delivered), but will probably keep topping off if prices go down from what they have been in the past - especially for better pellets. If not, or there are availability issues, then I can hold out for some time and hopefully prices shake out by the time I feel I need to buy. Hopefully there is a happy medium for all involved and it isn't too painful for very many before that is found.
If I could just find room for another ton I would have 2 seasons supply as well going by my current average. Things should settle by them(hopefully)...... Lets see what else should i chuck out??
Read this thread at 4:30, scrambled off to Worcester...sold out. Called Hudson store, said they had many tons. Drove over and found mostly North Americans. Did a little poking around the yard and found 2 1/2 tons of Pres-to-logs. Tagged the two tons and brought the 1/2 ton home. Picking up the rest tomorrow. Thanks Harman Lover 007 for the heads up!
Yesterday I bought the first 1/2 of the 1/2 ton you took home today. 15 bags actually, so you should have gotten a little more than 1/2 ton out of it...
If they go back into production. Many have not as we speak. But I assume should before too long. Distributor's lots look like HD/Lowes/TSC Mountians about everywhere. We both know the boxes won't buy like they did. The pellet houses might not as much either(your input here is appreciated!!) So Once the overage has been moved out. This could be where the fun starts. Specially if oil does what it usually does. If more tank filler come back in were could see demand overwhelm supply like 2012!! For sure the boxes won't be as aggressive in the market next season. Not sure how they will do with prices if they do come to play. But I seriously think they will scale back on purchases big time. Are you guys planning to load up as usual or are you cutting back on what you plan on carrying? Just curious!! I would stress to any of the burners you know to stock up and prepare for the storm that could be a duzzy!! Yes we are small, But we are the rock of the pellet world. We are what moved the stock this season. We will be here the next and so on! Our options are in pellets. But trust me, If the game gets rockier? You may see many leave and go to other options like the newer heat pumps that work far better today than what they did yesterday. You saw how fast the oil crowd pulled out. Seems we like to push each others buttons! But that is fun to debate them as long as we don't get carried away. Oh heck yeah it will be interesting. Worse for the ones that didn't do some piggin!! And seeing you have dealer contact would like to hear how this rolls out in your area. Wish we had more of the tank fillers joining in. They have been the tipping factor IMHO. You can bet if pellets were cheaper than oil this fiasco wouldn't be as extreme! Both the retailers and box stores will be eyeing oil prices. Or at least I hope they do. Can't move as many if oil remains low and pellet price aren't in the same ball park!! Obviously that doesn't work looking at the current state of affairs. They would need to close the gap to bring oil users back in to move mountains again! Your entitled to yours and its good to chat about things. Hearing all sides is how the puzzle pieces fit!! I do have a question for you. Has the Lowes sale nipped/slowed your spring buy traffic, Just curious and you don't have to answer if you prefer. Ain't this pellet game fun??
You are correct it was 35 bags. Wasn't in math mode last night after the rush of a pellet high. So technically is was 2 and 7/10 tenth tons.
Still haven't put much of a dent in my local stores. Would have though $99.50 a ton would have enticed them into loading some in.... I'll check it again tomorrow.
