Well I got a load of logs delivered a in January for a pretty good price.. Just trying to get my three years ahead here.. You would think with it being 75 feet off back porch I would have got more done but with the Ice we have been having and helping Daughter with her home work it just never got done as soon as I wanted.. and this is what I got accomplished by myself with limited daylight hours.. Just cutting a few logs before dark... Well that's what I was doing Friday night and a friend stopped up. So I put saw down and we started chatting.. I was a little frustrated as the sun was still up with the daylight savings.. So he says I come up tomorrow am with my saw... he got a Husky 445 I was using 260.. We started around 8 and I was blocking 2 to his 1. Nothing against Husky here boys. So we stopped for a I looked at his saw.. took it apart and cleaned it and threw a sharp chain on it.. We went back to work he cut pieces and was what did you do to my saw? Drew I know you know a lot but I grabbed 260 pro instead of my Husky 455 because chain was sharp. ( Brother had used it last...) All I did to your saw was clean it and put on a freshly ground chain.. So at 2 this afternoon with a couple of break (wife made some blueberry muffins ) Pile looks like this Maybe this week I will get to but right now it's time..
I used Paul bunion log calculator figured about 5 cord.. I never cut off a log pile before. I took one side buddy took other.. yeah just cut the top down and kicked rounds back out of way.. Kubota can push it to a pile next to a splitter I am lazy ... ummm I mean smart.. use hydraulics when you can...
You are right.. I chuckle at guys I only use xxxx brand saw and argue which is better... I use the one with the sharpest chain. my old Saab could beat a Ferrari in a race IF I went and flattened all four tires on Ferrari
That could be a stephen king field of rounds nightmare if they started moving around at midnight. Better get them split ASAP.
Boy you all went to town on those logs My 445 does a darn good job for what it is, I can surely tell when the chain starts getting dull though
Nice days work. Hope the splitting goes as well that would take me two months of Sundays to put a dent in.
Good story Canadian border VT. Man, you guys melted through that heap o' logs pronto! I've seen it before here too - two sawyers equals more than the sum of its parts once you get fueled up with coffee and 2-stroke mix. Hope that gets you well into 3-year-plan territory. Good job!

I'd be in firewood heaven if I had a pile that big looking at me. (saying please, please cut, split and stack me ) Sharp chains are a must. Pick up any one of my saws and the chances are they will have a sharp chain with a full tank of fuel mix and oil ready to go. I always check before I get ready to do any cutting just to make sure. Now quick, like Horkn said, run some gas through the splitter.
Great story CB-VT. You are correct. It is not so much the saw but it has to run right and have a sharp chain. Good on you to get with the 3 year plan. Hey, maybe you should change your mind and bring your buddy to the GTG! Naw. We understand, besides, that is a long, long trip.
Oh forgot to add this part I gave him a new chain and when he was filling saw with gas it cut his finger... Sharp chains are good!
