Thanks for your trouble uploading the video. I didn't know there was many places without high speed.

Here in the land shaped like a hand, lots of people live without dsl or broadband cable internet. I'm sure it's like that in lots of rural areas.

It surprised me more than anything. It wasn't really much trouble, I just walked away and found something else to do.

Thanks I did something pretty similar to the muffler on the stihl ms 241. I love the way a dual port sounds!

CoreyB and HoneyFuzz the thing to remember is that's green wild cherry in the video. Nice firewood but nowhere near as hard as hedge, hickory, oak, or even hard maple. But its still pretty decent for it not even having a full tank through it.

How's yalls cell phone coverage? Cause I get speeds on my cell phone 4x faster than my wifi when in decent cell reception.
I'd ditch the home Internet plan and either get a cell card that you can connect to the PC or use my cell phone as a wifi Hotspot and get an unlimited data plan

Yeah that's what we have. Just a phone as wireless hot spot. Not the greatest cell coverage though. It is still 4g, so better than dial up.

I can't do it cause we have almost zero cell coverage at the house. Sprint is probably the best which is surprising!! I use to have Virgin mobile cause of this and the price. I dropped them cause their service sucks everywhere else I go usually. I work in very rural areas.

I have verizon that is the next best but just a notch below sprint in data and voice in the area. ATT looses all signal a few miles from my house and no one else is here.

If there was better I might consider it.

Now this is a little more like it.

Pretty solid gains from a simple muffler mod and retune on the carb. This is a new saw so I tuned a bit conservatively. It's at around 11700-11900 which is well under the 12500 max that echo specs for this saw.

It's not my favorite chain, but the factory oregon BPX chain is sharp.

So at this point I'm not sure where I'm going with this saw. It's for sure getting a 16" B & C. I get where Echo is coming from with the 20" B &C on this saw. Joe Homeowner can buy it and tackle everything his skill level can handle. However, from an experienced saw users point of view it's too much bar for this saw.

Beyond the shorter bar, I'm not sure if I'm going to delete the cylinder base gasket or not. So to be continued I guess.

Great stuff! So when you go to 16" are you staying. 325 or make it really scream with a 3/8 lp wearing stihl ps?

I'll probably stick with LPX for this saw. I love that ps3 chain, but I can almost buy 2 loops of the lpx for the price of the ps3 around here. Also for what I cut the .325 holds up better.

Alright so for point of reference this is the saw the 490 needs to beat out to stick around. Disclaimer this is not an apples to apples comparison. Simply a video I shot to help me benchmark the 490 for myself. Thought you all would enjoy coming along for the ride.

If anything it really points to what a fantastic saw the MS 241 is. Hanging right with the larger saw.
