Was hurrying to beat the rain. Just finished putting stuff away when it started sprinkling. That pile grew a little today. Also my first outing with a hookaroon. After using today, I'll not be without it when splitting.
Thanks gentlemen. Felt good getting some exercise today. I have the "good" soreness this evening. May be different tomorrow. It is a Woodchuck brand. Actually called a Skidderoon. It does other tricks too, but I haven't tested that out yet. Skidderoon - Woodchuck Tools - Log Holders, Lifters, Rollers, Carriers, and Post Pullers
I got a dead elm cut up today. The top had broken off this winter and I got what was left of the trunk down and cut today.
Still to soft to start using my garden tractor. Maybe in a couple of weeks the ground should firm up.
We are supposed to have a bunch of rain. I think spring is my least favorite season. The rain held off today. Was in a T-shirt at one point. I was proud of my old rebuilt pos 350. Tweaked the h needle a little bit trying to get the sweet spot in the cut. It had its top blown off about 3 years ago and has been standing mostly dead. Those rounds are going to put up a fight. I could tell when bucking it...that beech is one hard beech!
I've been playing with beech almost exclusively recently. None have been as big as the ones you two have in this thread, but there's been a lot of it.
Well, crappy weather be dammed. Couldn't resist hitting the woodpile for a little bit. I thought these beech were going to put up a fight so I brought my 2166 in case noodling was to be needed. I think it scared the rounds because I was able to split them all with the Fiskars. Now they are in nice hookaroon sizes for the splitter.
Nice skidderoon! I have one made by someone else, but without the cable for dragging brush etc... Looks like a handy item.
