Yeah, feels like progress, even though we're doing the old.....one step forward, two steps back dance.
Oh papa Dave it's lookin gooder.. I bought our house before my wife would date me foreclosure and previous owner was a smoker. so everything got washed and all sheet rock repainted.. either ceiling white or light beige called sandstone. . then wife moved in..... the living room is now sage green... our bedroom is a maple, others being a yellow, a plum another green and accent walls... I never knew of those or throw pillows on a bed Good news my wife is a great painter my answer now is "honey here is your box of painting stuff paint anything you want that sheetrock " now I only have to do vaulted ceilings and anything over 9 feet tall.. she afraid of heights... spring fever is hitting I'll come home and smell paint... if you can't tell I hate to paint. land lord I painted too much...
Big or small jobs always take longer than ya think they are going to , then ya gotta stop n go get more stuff and little details will slow ya to a crawl
papadave and Canadian Border VT, Just remember, like "the norwegian" reminds me, " when momma is happy, everybody is happy". Color on walls make momma happy. LOL.
And now I read Canadian border VT's walls are similar to ours too We need diversity here folks Guess I'll be teaching Mrs. Eric VW what to do......
The first can (which we didn't like) was a $37 mistake. That's why I got a sample on the 2nd color. This coulda' got ugly real fast.........
By no mention of this thread on my own, my wife asked me tonight if we could repaint the LR..... Alright.....who's been talkin' ?????? My first guess would be wildwest
Stained a bit of one one window frame and let it dry overnight so I could see how that looked against the new paint. I like it, so that'll get done................
Nice and close, so I don't need to go far all winter for firewood. The front door is about 2' to the right. My plans totally blew up today, and we'll be having a GTG with family tomorrow at Zehnders, so not sure when I'll get back at it. Prolly Monday. Wife is going to Alpena on Mon., and she'll get the "new and improved" paint, so I can get that done.
So, she brought home the new paint and I got to work. It started getting a little dark in the room and the only light in there is a torchiere, and doesn't help much. Anyway, turns out I missed a few little spots, so I had to do a little touch-up. But.......the paint is done. Now, after doing some cutting on the trim, I don't think that'll work, so I'm back to the drawing board for that. Might just go real simple with some 1X3" pine, and butt joints. Still need to finish staining the windows, so I'll do that while cogitatin' on the trim dilemma.
That is great that the painting is done. What is the trim issue? Where the wall sticks out at the corner?
I just found out that gooder in French is goodiere. Oh, and the light was $7 at Wally's. It's already broken. For pics, refer to previous paint pics. The color is off no matter which one you look at, but the 2nd to last one I posted is the color the room is now. The "smartphone" isn't great at taking pics in that room. There's a window no matter where I point it, and the colors get all messied upier (that's French for messed up). I'm a French model...doncha know.
Here's a pic of the trim I planned to use, with the back cutout needed. The drywall is proud of the door jambs and a couple windows in spots. Pic is blurry, but maybe you can see how thin the trim is at the cut out. I cut 2 sample corner pieces and one cracked at the "notch" to the right of where my thumb is.
I had this issue here too. I cut the extension jamb depth so it was flush with the sheet rock that stuck out at the top. So when the casing was put up it sat flat at the top. The extension jamb was all the same depth top to bottom. So at the bottom, on the outward side of the casing, there was a gap the depth of the protruding sheetrock up top. I cut a piece of pine the length of the casing and cut it on a taper from the gap width at the bottom to zero at the top. The short version: Nailed the casing up and put a filler strip in the gap on the outward edge.
I thought about doing a filler, but some would need to be tapered. Maybe I'll just goober in some caulk and call it happy.
