You can get those same trailers on sale like black friday for like $599 it's the flimsy 5x8 one. Just had it on sale this last shopping season.

Trailers are more up north. I can buy a custom built 16ft trailer (7k) with out ramps or gate but with a rail and wood bed and dual axle (no brakes) for $1400 down here.

Get a good quality trailer, take care of it and it will last a lifetime. My 1988 Hudson car trailer I bought new is still going strong.

I'm having a hard time believing this could be legal and Why?

throwing 7000 extra pounds on the back of a truck is a lot to ask of a 1/2 ton truck
We've seen fatal crashes from this very scenario
cars stops short, trailer pushes truck out of control...

Our laws are a bit more lax in the south I guess?

I am not saying to load it to 7k gross and go speeding down the highway or anything? Many people use these for landscape and put two mowers and a bunch or rakes and stuff on so not that heavy...or not more so that my 17ft fish and ski boat on a single axle without brakes...full of fuel coolers and such.

If you wanted you could put brakes on it for what another $150?
