Michigan.... Seriously, Woodstock or blaze king and don't look back. I know you won't listen to everyone here because you admittedly over think everything but there's a reason everyone is pushing you in that direction.

With that blaze king in the classifieds I don't see what you are waiting for? That's dirt cheap! You would be hitting the lottery with that deal. That's 1000.bucks less than what you want to spend for one of the best stoves made. You could buy that stove, 5 cords of wood, and have money leftover.

The internet has created way too many over thinkers due to the information overload.

Go buy that bk. Stop messing around

Fat wallet. Yeah, about as fat as a 4 year old's birthday ballon three seconds after the needle sticks it.

Ever notice how pumped up everyone gets about buying a new stove around here. Especially when some other dude is picking up the tab. You all thrill seekers are just demented. LOL! Wonder when the scientific community or docs will come up with a diagnosis for this?

Pyro-spendinitis = An obsessive compulsive disorder associated with new wood burning devices funded by outside sources. << There's a new thread!

Anyway, Just go buy a new stove or a new to you stove. I guarantee you that you will feel better right after you do. Hey, I am a team player here fellas. Bet he is about to pull that wallet out..... Self admitted over thinker so he has already made up his mind. And you all just pushed him over the edge. Enablers!

Me? Nah, I wasn't even near the key board that day. Must have been that guy with the burning B avatar. That's what I heard.

Good Luck on that new stove Mr. Michigan Fat Wallet. Come join the Busted Ballon Club. New members always receive a WARM welcome and a free cheer'em on needle. On your nickel, of course. Membership fees vary but we all recommend the Gold Platinum Diamond Express package since it is your turn to buy.

Exactly! No need to worry about RTO return on investment. She is warm and quiet. I considered it an instant rebate. The P68 seriously was money well spent though. No regrets at all. Exactly why I feel a BK or IS would be worth the extra money. Another way I look at RTO is not always the cost numbers and time, but getting good results, use, and service out of whatever. Making life better and easier. Reducing hassles and what not. It can be hard to price tag that. It is even better when one can score a great deal for what would work out.

And there are also awesome deals on good and proven stoves that you just can't really pass up which is where my spinner landed. That said, an about new BK in the same area seriously discounted. Yep, I'd have to check it out. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I don't know why, but it kills me when there are great deals and I don't need them. That dolmar 7900 in the classifieds, the blaze king! Where were you guys last year? I would have been tripping over myself to reply "I'll take it!"

Thats why I went with my gut feeling and just snatched up the Durango NC-30 deal. Good deals don't last long usually. That will be hard to beat unless they are discontinued and a fire sale happens. Coach's BK won't be around long either. I am always forward thinking and for what I paid new for the 30 I can probably get close to it selling it used down the road. Really can't beat it if I count the $300 rebate.

So in my twisted head all I have to recoup is $318 bucks on this NC-30. On CL here I am watching old hoopty boat anchor stoves sell for $200 on the low end upwards of $600. Nicer used stoves are more. I have an old 1984 Lopi wood insert that came with the house. Just watched one just like it sell in a week on CL and the seller had it listed at $550. Way too much in my opinion. I'd say the guy got $400 but who knows. Point is that I bought a great new stove for less. getting an almost new BK for that price is another sweet deal.

I can also relocate the NC-30 and upgrade too if I get crazy and buy an Ideal Steel or BK but that will be a minute or three. I look at it as having a $300 investment excluding new stove pipe which can remain in place and reused. Can anybody beat that deal? Granted I am not hanging with the uppity sweet stove burning guys here but I am hanging. LOL! I'm cool with slumming it. No worries. I have caught grief burning the Harmans. Guess that makes me a Harman snob and a wood burning thug with some street cred now.

I am practical and cost conscious but just not ready to take the big boy plunge on a $2,500 and way on up wood stove. Would I like one. Bet your azzez on that! Do I want to have to install one in a hotel room after the Boss boots me out..... Not really.

Ok, Sorry Coach! That is really nice of you. Good deal. I thought or misunderstood Babaganoosch. Thought someone had one for $1,700 like new for sale. I assumed it was you. My bad. I'd really like to see one in person as well. Strictly for some tire kicking though.

Now you guys have me surfing and looking at these IS stoves. They look great and so many options. Plus reasonably priced for what they are. Really cool IMHO. I like them a lot. Looks, reviews, performance and burn times. I'll just have to remain content for a bit though or suffer the consequences.

Also, I apologize with the major thread jacking but I am finding my lost love of this wood heat somehow. Gets me fired up. LOL! Yes it can be work but also very warm and rewarding. Time was my biggest issue and being out of town for work. That is changing so I'm beginning to dabble again.

I came to these forums in 2011/2012, intent on getting affirmation of my decades-long desire to own and run a Defiant. We bought a PH. Since then I've watched the conversations closely, and have never felt like I made the wrong choice. The VC owners have beautiful, fragile, expensive to maintain stoves, with a company behind it (?) that can't seem to get its house in order.

I'm much older than you. Pay back to me would be in ease of operation and efficiency. No doubt in my mind that this is the correct choice for us. Everyone I know with one of these stoves is very happy with it.

Oh its probably a great stove but I have a NG furnace which is on the inexpensive side to run compared to propane or oil (depending on the current price obviously) so the pay back for me would be increased comfort.

A wood stove and free wood (outside of my time) makes a lot more economic sense for me. Well unless someone wants to supply me with free pellets that is. I've got a pellet smoker though so I'm somewhat in the pellet game.

That's because it's from before VC ran into problems.... if you buy a new stove, don't go VC. If you repair your current stove you know that you have another 15 yrs before you need to worry again. Another thing to think about is the tax rebates... I don't know if they are doing it again in 2016 but we got $300 tax rebate for buying an epa stove... IN 2014!!!

They have extended it thru December 31st, 2016. I printed a link to a certificate that is on the NC-30 thread that lists the Englander stoves eligible for the $300 tax credit. The stove must meet the 75% efficiency though. You can look up Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2016. Credit applies to purchases made in 2015 and 2016 also.

There are websites listed to go to in that link that is in the NC-30 on sale at the Durango, CO HD store for $519 thread. It is on page #2 and Huntingdog1 posted it.

Just my experience with my 1988 Resplute. When you take it apart it will be a problem for ever after. There are many of the outside plates and framework that will never be airtight again, and the inside plates just begine to break. Especially the warped plates like the fireback.

I also enjoyed to top loading aspect of the stove, lot's of good technology "in theory".. in practice not so much. Think about a WS Progress Hybrid, that's the new state of the art and also a work of art.
