I knew my wood usage was way down but I keep the pile up by the house replenished regularly so I didn't know just how far down it was. Get ready for this....I burned around 4 cords last winter. I am at 1.35 cord so far this year and the long term forecast for March is showing 50's & 60's thru the day starting next week. At those temps I can't load the stove in the morning.
Yep it has warmed up here also. The beginning of winter time was pretty cold though I have used some wood. About normal so far. You guys in the east though sure is different from last year.
Way down here too. 3 yr plan is now 10 at this rate. I hope I finish the row that I'm working on so that I have some open space to stack some more wood this summer.
Well, you never know what mother nature and next winter will bring, that 10 yr plan might turn back into 3 lol.
Well I just loaded cord number 5 on the wood deck because it was below 0.. but that is a huge improvement and wife is warm!
I started with 24 cords and have hauled 4 home over the winter. I said in another thread that I had about 2 cords of silver maple waiting on me but that just may get cut and hauled to an old couple from church. I just found out that the main farmer I cut on is logging a huge woods, took a stroll tonight I was like a kid in a candy store.......red oak, shag bark, sugar maple and beech tops galore.
On course to be about 2-3 cords behind last year. Should not take me too long to replace what I have burned this winter. Snowing now but supposed to be in the 60s and 70s next week.
I'm in NJ too. I'm almost at 2 cords. What are you burning in, a 55 gallon drum stove? That's a Lotta wood mang

I think this year balances out for last year. I went through 5 cords last year, and I'm under 1.5 this year. 'Normal' winters I expect to be right in between that range. No, the hoarding must continue - should be easy to grow the stacks this year.
No worries, we did 8+ cords for a lot of years. Too many variables between stoves, home insulation, wood types and climate. Do whatever it takes to keep you home and family warm
We were chugging along but now El Nino has taking a big bite out of us here in the last three weeks. Ive been burning close to shoulder season style but not quite. We have long shoulder seasons here after long winters so I expect to burning for quite some time yet just not full throttle. Ice is getting rotten so fishing is now over and Im sad. No more pike and trout fishing for Sean and son
Winter in central ks. -- aka the Banana Belt -- 1/4 inch of snow that covered the driveway in January one time -- and one pass with the snowblower. That's been it. I've probably used a little over a half cord so far; we've been dry but there have been a fair number of nights in the 20s or below.
I burned a half cord in 16 days following the late Jan snow storm. I only know that because I had hauled up 2 of the 1/4 cord pallets the day of the storm in preparation.
