    March 13th.
plenty of daylight this morning leaving the house @0515 and I watched the last of dusk fade away from the upper inlet of a turbine ~1845.
Loosing the morning daylight sucks for us early risers.

I've morning daylight on my side this weekend atleast, scrambling to get a turbine crew in for the muscle to pull a few combustor cans, and replace a little seal.
Anybody that ever whines about working on a car engine, quotes are $18-20k, for a job that should take less than 20hrs.
I could make it happen for under 5k, but they ain't cuting me a check for the difference:rofl:

I had two millwrights on T&M today doing some weld repairs and they were gung ho on breaking flanges.
one is a younger ,taller, hard working, Gomer Pyle sounding gent, and the other older than me but sharp and a doer - something tells me the older guy wanted to see something new, but neither would ever come back if I sent them into the manway to align a seal that is a confounding PITA

Similar here. Warmer days lately, but the 10 ton snowdrift Blob remains, and we get a small amount of snow every other day.

I am still smelling that sawdust smell that I had mentioned a couple weeks ago. It went away for some time, but the last two days, I can smell it again. Primarily at the computer station in the cave seems strongest, but even throughout the house on main floor.
I even went up into the attic above the 2nd floor to see if the chimney was leaking but the smell was very faint up there. The chimney was worked on a couple years ago, converted from brick to block but only the last few feet through the roof.
99 does not smell it at all!

The only way I can describe it is it smells like old dusty wood (like from inside a wall) that has been fresh cut on a saw.

    Annoying!

If a chimney leaks, shouldn't the smell be distinguishable as wood stove smoke??

Are you presumably running the stove in the Davecave hard, and just drying things out to a point where cooler air is somehow pulling this "aroma" down to where you sit at the computer? Or have you been lugging in old sawdust unknowingly?
