...and it came true!! I had a dream Sunday night that I was at Cabela's and I happened upon a display where they were selling 2,000 round "megabricks" of Golden Bullets. In the dream, there was nobody even looking at the stack of bricks until I walked up and grabbed one, then suddenly everyone else in the store saw them and then there was a mad dash and the stock was gone in seconds. So then today (in real life) I was up near Cabela's for work and stopped in to pick up my internet order of Thunderbolts from last week. I decided to just see if they have any .22 on the shelves and I was incredibly surprised when I saw the .22 shelf from 100 feet away. It looked completely stocked! But while the gun and ammo department was pretty full (maybe 25 people shopping) there wasn't a single person paying attention to the .22 shelf. So I walked up, saw a placard stating there was a 1200 round limit and quickly picked up 2 bricks of CCI Blazers. I'm guessing there was a total of 70k rounds sitting there, all kinds of bricks of Golden bullets, Federal Auto Match, Winchester 222, Blazers, and then hundreds and hundreds of 50 round packs of Stingers, CCI Standard Velocity, cheap Federals, and target ammo. I haven't seen a .22 shelf stocked so well in years. And I swear, the second I touched those 2 bricks 4 guys appeared out of nowhere, crowding me, reaching for whatever they could get their hands on!! As I walked away there was a constant stream of people heading towards the .22 shelf. Just like in my dream. I bet the entire stock was gone in an hour. Anyway, here's my proof! I haven't seen CCI Blazers for sale in years, they used to be my favorite. And they were only $27/brick. I think before the "scare" I used to pay $25/brick for them as they were one of the more expensive bulk ammos.
They might have. I really wanted to get a picture of the shelf, but there was too many people around it to see anything!
Nice score, dreams do come true. I just finished a brick of the blazer I had for a while. Price on it was $12.99. Those were the day's.
When I was 12, I bought Wildcats for $7.25/brick off the neighborhood gun store. It was 2 doors down from our house and they kept a note in the register from my mom that it was OK for me to buy ammo. Blazer is good stuff. I shoot a lot of it out of my SR22 pistol as it is subsonic out of a 3" barrel. I find it to be reliable and pretty accurate.
Hopefully it will keep showing up on shelves...and stay there for more than an hour. Still not to be found here....unless you want to pay $.19/round after tax.
Still cant find it locally either. Wife wants a Ruger SR-22, in purple. Trying to research the most reliable ammo for that, then buy on-line. Tips??
Mine will eat most stuff fine. Had a little trouble with some Winchester I think. I almost always shoot it suppressed and it will run pretty much any ammo with the added back pressure. Great little pistols. Surprisingly accurate and fun to shoot.
I ran a bunch of Golden Bullets through a buddy's SR22 recently and it ate them fine. He typically shoots CCI mini mags which of course run great. The only ammo I'd stay away from is the Federal Auto Match which none of my semi-autos like, and anything subsonic.
There's not enough pressure in a subsonic to cycle most semi-autos. Try CCI Standard Velocity rounds, they are more quite than most other .22 bulk rounds, but still cycle in all of my semi's.
Yea, I shoot competitively. I shot cci standard in bullseye and Blazer for everything else. Not as fun with a can when the bullet is supersonic though....
That's a bummer. Can you get a lighter recoil spring? Wonder if the Light series has this trouble? They are basically set up to run a can I think. Standard velocity CCI is sub-sonic from a rifle. 1070fps My 10/22s will cycle any of the subs I have with or without suppressor mounted. They won't cycle CCI Quiet which is only 710/fps
Yes, I could lighten the spring but the primary purpose for the gun is bullseye pistol.... I know the rating on standard is below supersonic, but with the can on my bolt rifle it is supersonic....
I would think a bullseye pistol would be setup to run match grade ammo? Prettymuch all of it is subsonic. Interesting. I have a 16", an 18" and 20" that they come out of nice and quiet like a church mouse fart. Blazer is supersonic out of those same rifles.
