I finished loading up on Blazers today. the latest orders are coming out of Upton, and bagged there under the Bridgewell label. The 2 warehouses have been sold out and there is not much left in Upton. I believe that next year we will see their relationship expanded with Upton, but much less product will be brought in - just enough to feed any restocking needed, and no warehousing of product bagged at the plant. I have an invite to get a tour of the Upton plant, and will take advantage of it.

artc, what does that mean? Are they going to be sold in BTUtiful bags instead of traditional Blazer bags?

The "best" pellets that I've burned in my Harman are Blazers, (HD fall 2014, 4 tons @$239/ton. They did burn well. But I wouldn't say anymore than maybe +5% better and that is measured by the amount of ash. Most other pellets have been FSU and MWP, both being very satisfactory. If I burn on stat, I don't get much for a speed bump, and the glass stays half way clean. If I burn it on stove temp, I have to run it on low, and then I get a speed bump that I clean up about weekly.

It's True Value and Wilmington VT. Small little town in between Brattleboro and Bennington. That pretty much says it all for me.

Save, I have a different experience with my P68 - when I burn Blazers, I can go for multiple days without so much as opening the door to touch the burnpot. There is so little ash, there's just nothing to cleanup. With MWPs and FSUs, I have to scrape off the pot 2 - 3 times per day, because the ash is heavy and collects in the pot, causing lazy flame if it's not cleaned up regularly. This is not a knock on MWPs or FSUs, I like them both and the price is right (especially MWPs) and scraping the pot a few times a day is NO issue, as long as I'm around to do it. I burn several different kinds for different reasons. MWPs, FSUs, Chows, etc. for budget reasons, and like I said - I do like them a lot. Blazers cost more, but it's worth it to me (if the cost is within reason), if I'm not going to be around for a while or can't tend to the stove as frequently as usual.

TT, I'm with Larry on the MWP's. I like them a lot. Yes I get ash buildup but I don't see where it chokes the flame causing it to be lazy.

I wonder if you are having an issue with some air flow issue? Air intake adequate? Exhaust path issues? Don't know. But as I mentioned, I don't open door for a month. Has been that way all winter. I keep it on stat most all the time.

The only accurate thing I have been able to determine about predicting pellet supply and prices is that it is consistently unpredictable! Like the weather, we know what is doing by looking around and taking advantage of the best of it! You can have some control of the situation by being a dedicated pellet pig.

I would like to see a picture of your burnpot after days or weeks of burning without opening the door. I suspect what this boils down to is we have different tolerance levels for ash in the pot. I have seen pictures posted in the past where there is an inch thick layer of ash all the way out to the very edge of the burnpot, covering every row of holes, and clearly causing lazy flame. For some, that's fine. I prefer to keep the pot clean with a very strong flame at all times. There is no way I could go a whole month without opening the door, even if I was burning Blazers.

The start of this season looked so much like 2008(Warm start, Low oil prices and pellet piles growing) I could almost taste it. I would almost bet we'd see bargains. Let the stash run low and was drooling for the deals to start any day!!

You can bet the pigs have full stashes in these times. Well the ones that don't have the oil option should at least!! ;)

I like the MWPs too Sub. A lot, in fact. I'm not trying to knock them in any way. Just stating that I have a very different experience with respect to ash output when I burn Blazers. I think you have some experience burning them too?
