Am seriously considering purchase of Jonsered CS2253. Need something to cut with 026 and 261 Stihl. Recently added first Jonsered - CS2245 - and really like it. Three of us cut together and want another pro saw to keep up with the Stihls. Any opinion of this saw would be appreciated.

Yep. 550xp and 2253 are the same. Depends on whether you want red or orange, straight wrap handle or angled.

Had a new / never in woodfrom Terry Landrum and traded it for a new / never in wood 550xp.

For me it is more the fact that we have a good Jonsered dealer close by. Husky dealer not so convenient.

But Dex, the Jonsered looks much sleeker! Actually I prefer the straight handle on the Jonsered to the angled handle of the Husqvarna. My local saw shop also carries Jonsered. Jonsered or Husqvarna , I have both brands & they are great saws. (Also have Stihl, McCulloch, Poulan, Craftsman, Ruder). If it starts easy & has a low vibration factor, I'm happy - well mostly.

Good call... The 2253 will run with those stihls and be much better balanced while doing so...

    Yes. The newer ones anyway.

    The 2253 and 550xp. Same.

    The 2260 and 562xp. Same.

    The 2171 and 372xp. Same.

    You get the point ;)

Why don't you step up to a 2258 or 2260 instead of getting a 3rd 50cc saw? I think you would be a lot happier with a little more weight and good boost in power.

Actually that was my first thought. I read several messages on this forum where a 2260 as well as 562 were well liked by users. Just not sure if additional $150 cost of saw and additional weight is what I want for my needs. Back more sensitive to weight than it used to be.

I would PM member Terry Landrum. Ask him for his prices on the 2260 (562) and whatever the J-red equivalent of the 555 is.

He has a lot on his plate right now with what he is going through, But he has some of The Best prices around.

He could save you a considerable amount over your dealer.

    Thanks :)

Terrys price on the 2258 may be pretty close to what your dealer wants for the 2253.

Just sayin... It's worth a shot to ask.
