Interesting. I was thinking a GM tree fitty was closer to 700 lbs.

I know one thing...the front end on a F250 with a powerstroke sinks like a rock compared to a V10 when you get in the mud...

Yes, 700 or so for the 350 and 351... Depending on what's attached to the block. But those cast iron water cooled marine exhaust Mani's are heavy. Those have to add at least 100 lbs. Catalytic converters in newer exhaust systems are changing that to lighter ss and such, but greater complexity and cost. Just like the old 7.3's to the new tech diesels.

I know nothing about boats or boat motors, but don't you want HP over torque unless you're hauling freight?

Yea its not like you want to replace two 454s with a 7.3 unless you want fuel economy. But if a boat has two 454s its probably for speed.

Update. Its still up and running, must be at OMG like 500K miles:dex: It was assigned to an outside salesman that drives it. Though WWW has not taken a pic for me to share, he hears it at the shop often, sometimes sees it, and is always pleased when he does:thumbs: I would guess I might have 20k and he has more like 300K miles driving it. FUN stuff!!

Wow... 500k miles... this is what a Maine truck would look like after that many miles driven on salt covered winter roads... ;)

Early 99 judging by the fender engine emblem. Little lower on power than the 1999.5 model, but still a damm fine engine. I don't think I've ever seen a Powerstroke with the 5 speed, thought they all came with the 6 speed granny gear.

I would definitely fix that up! If it does need an engine swap, make sure the oil pan on the donor is good before it goes in!

I honestly don't remember the granny gear, probably did, 1 was pretty fast and long. btw, they did fix it up, turns out the motor thingy did not leak water into the other motor place, so mostly exterior body repairs, it's still running strong and a favorite for the guys to drive. Lemme see if I can get current count on the odometer.........

I love old stick powerstroke trucks. I would buy one in a heartbeat.

If it was a five speed, reverse would be all the way to the right and down. It's all the way left and up in the six speed.

Reverse positions jogged his memory, reverse upper left, low bottom left :) I only used granny a couple times on our steep road when the emergency brake was loose so I could not get out to engage the front hubs..... We had a couple years our road was waaaayyyy more than just crowned but more like a balancing act and trying to back out of the driveway in reverse required absolute precision. Jogs my memory too, for me to engage the clutch I had to basically get the seat as close as possible to the steering wheel, R bonked my knee, a couple of the gears hurt my elbow because it was basically behind me at that seat position, and 5th was a really long reach for me to get into.

And yes, zooming around in that big truck was a bit of a power trip for me

94 was 5 speed only (with the DI TD, which later became known as the Powerstroke)
(There where 3 diesel options in 94...the NA 7.3, the 7.3 with factory turbo, and later in the year the "PS")
You could only get an auto trans with the NA 7.3 or the 7.3 with turbo.
95-97 was 5 speed or auto.
The 6 speed came about sometime after the body style change (98)

Sorry, that's what I meant. The 99+ Powerstroke.

I've driven more 5 speed 94-97 5 speed 7.3s than I could ever possibly count.

    :rofl: :lol::rofl: :lol::rofl: :lol::rofl: :lol:

WWW is on vacation, he was towing the boat home after gassing it up for this weekend, slower than the highway speed limit while watching the trailer tires on the narrow lane, and had an impatient truck behind him. The truck passed him. Our old F250 had a distinctive crack on the hoods bug/rock guard that eventually cracked off, :rofl: :rofl:  It was a kid from his company going on a call  :rofl: :rofl:  Ole girl still has tons of git up and go for the mileage and being laid on the side back when:smoke:
