After putting a couple roadside trees on the ground with my Homie, it was time for some fun bucking them. 362 belongs to a bud; it had become a circle-cutter. I restored its bar & ground the buggered chain. The Dolly 6100 is mine, stone stock & SHARP.

On digital scale, both weighed 19.2 lb, Stihl w/24" bar & 1/3-full tanks. Dolly w/20" bar & full (large) tanks. A wash. I adjusted 362's carb for optimum performance.

Cutting alternately with the 2 saws on the same stick, I was amazed. No contest. Dolly, with 2cc more displacement was about twice as fast for each cut. Miss Dolly showed much more grunt at high revs and better A/V. She blew through the wood where the 362 plodded.

So I hand-filed the 362's chain (w/Granberg guide of course) and dropped it off to owner, with advice not to try my 6100 after/before running the 362. At least it cuts straight now.

In my head only. The audio track really told the tale, to me, with huge difference in pitch. With the ankle-busting mess of bucked wood in the area, even if I had a camera with me, my attention would have been totally on the cutting. I was there alone for that part of the job, besides.
Up front, my purpose was just to test the 362's ability to cut straight, but I had the Dolly along, so what the hey.

Soon enough the guys who own the stihl will be "tilling" some with it, and Miss Dolly will be able to walk it with chain on backwards. Almost true dat.

I guess the outcome is not that surprising, 2 cc's more and 4" less of bar length. How about an apples to apples comparison? Just sayin.

    Ya I believe that.
I really like the 6100 as well. Even with a 24" bar it rocks. In fact you start to really see the torque the 6100 has while wearing a 24" full comp.

I never knew there was any other kind of saw made other than Dolmars. I've heard about a lot of Chinese knock off stuff but always figured that paying more for China didn't make sense when you already have the best ever made.

Huh? For that matter then, the Dolly had much more fuel in the tank- should have similar impact, no? :') (Both had plenty.)
Seriously, the difference wasn't some piddly little bit, but night-and-freaking-day. Obvious. And, yes, the 362 seemed in good health, and fully broken-in, as was Dolly. Fresh mix in both. Same atmospheric pressure & temperature.

Nice. It's fun to know you've got a great saw! I love my 362cm. It's a beast. But I've never had the privilege of running a 6100dolmar. Don't need the temptation for any more saws at the moment

I also think it would be interesting to see the results if both chain saws were running brand new or comparable saw chains. Usually the first time I sharpen a chain after rocking it, I'll forget to do the rakers or something. I'm sure your dolly is a great saw but there's no way was it "twice as fast" if the chains were comparable.

I know how to make my 362 cut twice as fast. I take off the 25" bar and put on the 18" bar. Same saw, same gas, same day, same wicked smile on my face as I squeeze the throttle. You know a strange thing happened the other day. This guy pulled up beside me in his beat up old ford truck. I was in my nearly new Ram. The light turned green and he was gone.....all I seen were tail lights. That's strange, two trucks, both with V8's, so why was he walkin me. Then I remembered I've got 7500 lbs of armour stone on the trailer behind me. Apples and oranges.

Well, I personally sharpened both chains, 3/8" full-chisel, and they were both in fine shape, so YES they were quite comparable. What I was saying was simply that the Dolly was whistling through the wood somewhere near its 10K power-peak, and the 362 was dogging it. It just wasn't putting out power. Yes, all indications were that the 362 was at its best. The difference was startling. Notice, I didn't even mention price?
Of course, the 362 could have been burdened unfairly with its pretentious full-wrap handle and monster dual-dogs.

My 372 XP or xtorq would hand the Dolmar in that video, it's rear end. Wearing a 24 inch bar too. Just sayin':D. And, just poking some fun

In all seriousness, I understand your point. Cheaper saw. Not as popular. etc.... However, there is a huge difference between the two you compared when the loser was pulling a 4 inch longer bar. Also, just sayin'

    God Bless

Come on guys, we all know ole Yank has a little bit of ownership bias if you follow his posts. This test doesn't surprise me at all ;)

Let's see both saws on video with fresh chains and 20" bars. Throw in a 562 and a 620 for comparison.

That would be an awesome side by side. If somebody or anybody would send me a 362, 562. And 620 I would do a few videos.

I totally understand how some would be scared to have their 562 or 362 compared side by side with my stock barley broke in dolmar 6100.
