The famous glock brass does indeed have a belly as you say. I've been involved in discussions about it on other forums. If a guy looks not very hard, they will find the Glock chamber doesn't have as much support as others (bottom of chamber/feed ramp area). I'm a total brass prostitute when at the range, but I could always fire resized brass in my M&P 40. Google
You have to reload if you are going to shoot a lot economically! I would be leery of reman ammo. I am total snob about my loads. I can tell you the history of every round of brass I have.
I wasn't the first to azz u me something. Fellow reads a couple posts on the internet and suddenly all Freedom Munitions are junk. I'd say that's quite an assumption. Have you had a double charge from Freedom or a gun come apart in your hand while using same? Me neither. I'll bash a product if I have first hand issues with it, but not if based off of some guy on the internets ramblings. Apologies if my rebuttal has offended you. I can shoot more when I buy cheaper. I suggest Freedom to others for same reason. I wouldn't make the same suggestion for self defense ammo. This thread is for "deals on ammo" and Freedom Munitions fits that description. More people shooting more is good in my opinion. No no. I understand perfectly about the Glocks. I was using the very few examples of Glocks randomly exploding to highlight the fact that Glock makes some very fine firearms, but sometimes **** happens. More so that ALL manufacturers produce some faulty products. Gentlemen, I prefer not to escalate any further. As an olive branch I offer this deal 9 MM RELOADS : LAX Ammunition Reloaded 9 MM 115 GR 1000 RDS W/FREE AMMO CAN
^Agreed. No need to argue. Cheap is good. I load my own pistol ammo so I'll throw out some leads on components. Bullets can be bought for 15% off on black Friday weekend at xtreme bullets. I buy many years worth each year on that sale and it saves me hundreds vs buying thru out the year. Powdervalley.com a huge player in the powder department. They supply midway so you might as well buy straight from them and save the retail markup. They also have primers to help spread out the haz mat fees.
How much does 1k rounds of once used brass go for if you were to sell it? If I could buy new ammo for 230, spend 35 more than this reloaded stuff, but recoup some of the $ on selling the brass, would that be a better deal? I'm asking because I don't know...not to stir the proverbial pot.
This page gives you a pretty good idea. The brass is the most expensive part of a round of ammo, even once fired it has decent value. once fired - MidwayUSA
So, based on that, if I were to get half of "retail" @ $.03/case then I'd be almost even money buying new factory ammo and reselling the brass. Or better yet, saving the brass to roll my own sometime in the future.
Yup, hoard those little golden wonders. its like picking up a dime every time i pick up an empty 45ACP, for 9mm its like picking up a nickel, .223 a dime........ it all adds up. I have 5000 cases of misc calibers laying around polished and bagged, ready for pulling the handle.
A buddy at work told me about an app. for my phone. Its "slick guns" mine is for android. it searches the web and finds all the better deals on fire arms related stuff and lists the sites it is compring. breaks the ammo costs down to price per round. Works pretty well.
lukem locally, 9mm and 40sw bring $30 to 35 per 1k. A little more if separated by head stamp. 45acp about a nickel each. 7.5 cents each if you pull out the small pistol primer and trash it. 380acp 6 to 7 cents each. 223 brass 5 to 7 cents, depending on headstamp. Lc brings a premium. Sounds like you have seen the light Btw those prices sell as fast as you can list it. Any more, and the tire kickers come out.
Picking up brass always reminds me of the Family Guy episode with James wood and the bread crumb candies... "Ooh, piece of candy."
