Hey guys, I've started shooting a lot more recently and will be starting to stock u on more ammo. I was thinking a thread just for ammo might be good. You know, post where your buying from and what price per round your finding and what caliber. Also reloading supplies, powder, primers, bullets.. equipment whatever...

Right now I'm on the hunt for .223, getting a reloading press but don't have much brass so about 1k of .223 is on the list

I am in the process of buying a couple thousand rounds of 9mm 115gr fmj magtechs from my local supplier. Told him if he can get close to internet prices I would prefer to buy from him.

    Good Idea Bob.

Are you opposed to reman ammo? If not, check out Freedom Munitions online. I have been using them for 9mm for a year or so. I do a lot of steel target shooting so high quality ammo is a waste for me. Not to say their stuff isn't any account. I have fired around 1K of their cartridges without issue. Runs in everything I have. I usually buy their 147gr remanufactured stuff for around .22/rd.

I hear you on supporting local dealers. The one closest to me doesn't do much volume, so their ammo prices are a bit high for me. I have bought plenty of stuff from them over the years though.

It seems that ammo prices are on the rise again? Walmart has again become competitive vs. internet for Perfecta, WWB, etc.
.223 exclusively, or will 5.56 be suitable as well? Not sure if you are aware of this site... GunBot 223 rifle ammo <-there & slickguns.com are gonna yield the best deals.

I might go to reach remanufactured arter this. He gets in Great Lakes and they have stopped packing in foam so that makes them a little more atteactive.

I have a .223 1:8 barrel, no 5.56, as for the freedom stuff i have found it reliable but far dirtier than what i'm accustomed to. I've also heard horror stories about their 9mm brass. cases seperating base from mouth after 1 reload. take that for what it is. i found it on the web which is 100% reliable:picard:

I have a .223 only rifle also. It doesn't get used much though. I'm all about suppressed 9mm & 22lr!

Are you talking someone bought their ammo, then shot it, then reloaded it and had problems? I send all my brass back to them for credit.

Yup, they bought new FM ammo, collected the cases and reloaded it. The report i heard was a 2% failure rate, the brass mouth of the case was being left in the chamber and the base was being ripped off of it.... and ejected....

maybe, but it sounds like they went in the same gun for both firings so idk. I do know my uncle bought a box of 500 at the outdoor show here in harrisburg two weeks ago. We found the 9mm cases had a weird machined/cast bulge at the base. Maybe higher than normal pressures from lower case volume, maybe resizing issues from the weird case shape. i think ill call them.

Here's why freedom munitions sucks: they offer a brass credit program. Send them brass, they give you $ off your order of reloads. Sounds good right? Wrong. People send them their trash brass that has been reloaded 50 times and possibly been loaded past max rather than recycling it like a honest man should.

Not to mention, if you shop around, you can get new manufacture ammo at the same price.

Steer clear of freedom. There have been other forum reports of blatant overcharge or double charge with injuries and gun destruction
That ain't worth saving a penny per round imo.

Lukem posted the 223 I've been buying. It's good stuff even with the wolf name which I usually associated with steel case junk.
It's a completely different load, projectile and all.
Be warned, it's hot for 223. It's loaded to Taiwan 5.56 specs which do not meet usa 5.56 specs so it's sold as 223 rem.

That same place usually has 9mm fmj brass cased for $200 shipped.

If u want more than 1, place separate orders cuz they charge shipping on 2 or more

I send them back the brass that they send me plus whatever else I find on the range. I got back in exchange 500 rounds of 9mm for $52.00. It is not up to me to determine the quality of the brass at time of reload, that's on them.

Please provide the sources for .11cpr 147gr new manufacture brass cartridges. I'd jump all over it.

I once read on the interwebs that we never landed on the moon. Glocks sometimes explode for no reason...should no one ever buy one? Just as with anything...the reports of bad things will always drown out the good things on the internet. The model pickup truck I drive had some rear end issues back when I bought it...all over the internet....my experience has been different 100,000 miles later.

A double charge can happen even with name brand factory ammo. BREAKING: Winchester Recalls Lots Of .22 Long Rifle Ammo - The Truth About Guns

I *actually use* Freeedom Munitions and couldn't be more satisfied. Your millage may vary.

Not sure why, but WWW uses his own that he reloaded, but will not buy reloads. Bet this is why or part of why.

Don't assume I "haven't used" freedom my friend....you know what they say about assuming.

I'm mobile so I can't link, but target spots usa has Fed 147 new brass for 24 cents. Its not 11 cpr, but its much better stuff. Take the demeaning nature of your post and go look for yourself...

I'd like to buy local too, but nobody are here can come close to what I can find online. If it was a few bucks I wouldn't sweat it, but we're talking $50/thousand rounds. I can get them online shipped to my door for about $220...they want $259 + tax locally.

I think you misunderstood what "being glocked" meant. Glocks have loose tolerances on the chamber. This allows the brass to swell farther than most other handguns, that being said some brass that was fired through a glock will only ever be able to be used in glocks in the future...
