Decided to try a 36 pack after getting the free samples. These things WORK. I doubt I'll cut much more kindling in the future. With a few small splits I got one rolling now without any

Yes, they are great, so easy to use. I also use them to light my Charcoal in the grill:grizz:, no more lighter fluid...

They are pretty awesome! I don't miss having to split kindling every week. I just put a 1/4 piece under either a hand sized split or wrist sized round and the fire is roaring pretty soon. Like Chvymn99 said, they work great on the grill too!

One day I will try them. I'm just waiting for them to go on sale (simply because I'm a cheap azzz). That way I can take my kindling (smallish twigs and branches) and run it through the chipper for garden mulch.

Seriously, the more I hear/see y'all talk about them the more I want some for use in the stove and grill!

I still use kindling because I get 25 lb dog food bags full from my friend that has a wood shop and builds crafts. I use 1/4 of a SC broken in half....easy peasy....luv em

I have been using kindling for quite a while. For some reason just a few weeks ago I ran out and was in a pizz all mood about splitting more. I used one of these starters with 5 regular size splits and voila, nice fire fairly quickly. I guess I just never thought about not using kindling. I'm using 3 year dried ash so i.m sure that helps, probably wouldn't be as good with sub par wood.

And that's in case you think your wood is dry but it is really wet.

My flue must be harder to warm up than most. I use a full firestarter and a lot of kindling from a cold start. I have lately been using store-bought firestarters which work, but are a lot harder to light than supercedars, and don't smell as nice.

My wife uses a commercial paraffin/sawdust starter to great effect. I still use fatwood, pine cones, and thin split pine kindling as a matter of principle.

I give all due credit to Super Cedars for making wood burning easier for people who like it that way. The more people responsibly burning the better.

It was hard for me to "cheat" as well and I stubburnly held onto building fires the "old" way for my first year. But I also start a fire twice a day, so saving up all the newspaper or noodles and splitting kindling was getting to be quite a chore for me. Since I've tried Super Cedars and Rutland firestarters I doubt I'll ever go back to using tinder and kindling.
