Chains on the back would make the hills easier but I made every hill or ravine I was in, not much snow (4-5 inches) but after the last rain, in certain spots the snow was heavy. The rest of the pictures are from the trails or the brook, it's freezing from the bottom up so the water that is running gets on top of the ice and goes right or left.
We've been waiting for a big snowfall all winter, we planned on riding the sleds more this year, either bring a chit load of snow or bring on spring.
Looks like a beautiful and peaceful ride. I hope you get a good snow so you can get out on the sleds before spring.
Looks very peaceful. Our snow is mostly gone. Compared to most winters, this one is much warmer. I welcomed it after the last two which seemed to fit that definition of "old fashioned winters".
Beautiful pictures as always! I have not even ridden any of our sleds all year, yet. There was a 2 week window, and I was busy. I'm guessing I'll get out yet, but the trails took a beating the last couple of days and there's no big storm in the forecast yet.
I recall March snows that were the worst, but not following a mild winter. The days are getting longer, and warmer, and the snow base is mostly gone. Oh we might get a blizzard just to keep us on our toes, but I can't help but think that time and evidence is that this trend will continue. I hope the west coast continues to get the moisture and out of their drought.
It seems that within the last ten years that we have received an above normal amount of storms in March also. In the 14"-32" category storms.
Got a storm heading our way now. Not sure how much to expect but it appears anywhere from 6-12". Most are saying around 8". Time will tell but I do hope we get the snow rather than the ice that some will get.
Hate ice, if you get it, I hope house stay in. Nothing ever good comes from an ice storm. We are forecasted to get snow and a mix tomorrow, then 50F and heavy rain. The coastguard has issued a warning telling anyone with a shanty on the ice to get it off. They are going to bring the ice breakers up the river to prevent another ice jam and the flooding.
We have about 1.5 inches of rain heading this way, it looks like the roof raking I did when we had snow or it warmed up have the gutters wide open, tomorrow I'll dig out the snow where they drain away from the house.
Winter storm watch now turned into a winter storm warning. 8-12" expected. Snow plow is on now and gas cans are full.
