The surprising thing is it doesn't feel greasy. Only reason I know it is there is because of the smell on that hand after I've driven the car.

We have been using ammonia and vinegar for decades on any fabrics. We have spray bottles of it for any untimely spills here. When we clean the rugs or upholstery we will make a solution with just ammonia and HOT water. If you want to crank up the effectiveness, for a stubborn spot you can lay a dampened (with the solution ) cotton rag or washcloth over it and use an iron to create steam.

By the way if you ever have a dent in wood you can do the same trick. Dampen (just water) the dent or a small spot on a piece of cloth and apply an iron. The steam will blow up the cell structure of the wood enough to sand it flush when it dries or at least minimize the depression.

If you care to try it.

Chlorine dioxide will likely kill these odors.

A couple tabs in a small container of water and sit it in the rig and let the stuff gas up the rig.

Stay out of it and let the stuff sit for a day, then air out really good.

TREAT IT LIKE A BUG BOMB, NASTY STUFF, BUT KILLS ODORS.

    Great for MOLDY SMELLS

Nasty is too mild a word.

It is an EPA registered sterilent and is lethal to all living organisms it has been tested on (that list is very long) in even low doses. They use it, among other things, to kill anthrax spores.

Try rubbing fresh lemon (lemon cut open with the peels still on) on the steering wheel. Let it dry.
For you, prevention! Sand paper mittens!

I bought some a while back to get rid of a mold issue in a truck we had that sat for 4 years waiting for a new engine.

Did the "Shock treatment" on it and then shampooed the interior.

NO MORE MOLD SMELL, NONE AT ALL.

    YES IT IS NASTY.

The instructions were very specific about how to handle it.

    It works though.

Don't have any lemons, but do have real lemon juice, so went and wiped it down. I'll see how that works sometime this coming week. Thanks for the tip :)

Finally had the time and screwed up my courage to replace the stock radio in the Explorer with an aftermarket radio. The old radio won't play anything that isn't an original music CD and doesn't have an Aux port for hooking in my MP3 player.

Got the radio and install kit (wiring harness and dash kit) from Crutchfield's as a closeout for cheap, followed directions and got the thing in. Pretty proud of myself, as a wiring challenged person, that it worked the first time

    Old radio (double din)

New radio (single din) with a cubby hole above to fill in the dead space. Should be able to stuff my MP3 player up there.

X2 They may not be the cheapest (unless you get a deal like Bogieb did), but the instructions, adapters, and phone tech service is well worth it! Nice job!

Nice, you'll like that much better. I wouldn't know where to start anymore. I used to do those things, but now I just hire it done.
