Nope, the back cut was way off, but matched the face cut for angle off the level. Have you ever tried to fell a tree across a chain link fence? It was not easy to keep things level with my arms at shoulder height and I am not happy with the way it came out. At least that fence buster is well on its way to becoming fahrwood. Yes, it is the one I have been dreading.
Well none of us are perfect and with a difficult situation. At least you got it down and some useful firewood to boot. I wish I had some cherry to burn, I hear it is great and smells good too.
Not even half way through this years wood, Feb 20!! and just getting over a cold. This is me this weekend
Well, no woods time today, but did get in a little cutting. Red elm and a wee bit of somewhat punky black locust. Got a decent pile split. My frankensaw 350 got its first real running today since rebuilding. Ran like a champ. I cut a little with 550 too. Was a good day. Made some splits. Got some sunshine and got to do some cutting. I've been puttering around the house too much this winter. Gonna be sore tomorrow.
I had a wonderful day. Picked up 3 truckloads of oak from a guy 10 minutes from my house. I got to run the 5200 in some big wood with a fresh chain and an hour of noodling. Then got some time at the water park with the fam. And I don't know what they did to that log before I got there but I got a laugh out of it.
Someone's bandsaw is cutting pretty bad? Never seen one taken apart like that. Sounds like a great Saturday!
Looking at my picks I saw these from 2 weeks ago that I never posted. Went on a scrounge trip to Clifton park with my FIL. Picked up half a cord of oak a few logs of pine and a face of hard maple. Had a great time and we split it up when we got back. I ran my fresh rebuilt husky 350, ran well but I checked the comp and was only pushing 100 psi. Maybe my gauge. My wood pile is growing and I should start splitting soon.
Lol. From a distance I thought someone milled it but then I got closer. They blocked that trunk up by taking 8-10" chunks.smh. I just felt so bad for that mans saw and how much time that must have taken.
How about using a snowmobile and a sled to get the wood home. I use a quad and the sled. It works awesome, but we have not had winters with feet of snow on the ground at a time.
Was the p&c a 44mm open port? I also removed base gasket and ended up with .025 squish. The saw runs well, compression doesn't feel great but 100? Idk. I'll figure it out or you will see a post on the chainsaw forum.
I cut and hauled a half cord of beech, sugar maple, and shagbark hickory. 4 sled loads filled the trailer. Load 1, beech Load 2, beech Load 3, shag with a couple of sugar rounds Load 4 sugar And the loaded trailer leaving the land. I split a trailer load of the wood I brought out of the woods the other week, and took that home. Beech, ironwood, and sugar maple. I'll get a pic of that tomorrow.
