It made it's way down to -5 last night, it is suppose to be 43* tomorrow. The sunshine is glistening through the ice on all the trees, looks real neat. Beats looking at dull grey landscape.

    Ahhhh well, all is good.

New washer and dryer showed up yesterday about 11am
The delivery/setup crew was an aggravation to say the least.

I told them where to spot the truck and to get the units on the tailgate and at ground level, BUT NOT OFF ON THE DIRT (Raining and nasty)

I told them we would load the units in my BOBCAT bucket and I would pack them to the front deck so we could get them inside easily.

I get back with the skidsteer in less than 5 minutes and the idiots have the boxes out in the muddy driveway literally sitting in a puddle. :hair:

Sooooo, once we get them inside the floor is a mess.

The one dude asks me where they go so he can begin setting them up.

I just smiled and thanked him while showing him out.

No way would I let these clowns have anything to do with connecting wires and water.

The one guy went insane when we put the boxes in the bucket of the skidsteer.

I moved in a $10,000 antique china hutch in the bucket, and certainly not worried about a washer/dryer that's well packed in a box.

Took us about an hour or so to hack the boxes off and wiggle them into the laundry room.

The wiring and plumbing was a cinch.

I had kept the 4 wire pigtail from the old one to use.

Delivery dude tells me I have to use a new one, Whhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat ? !!!!!

I laughed at him, "Naaaawwww, this one still has unused electricity in it"

Not going to waste $$$$ on a new wire set when the old one is in perfect order.

    Just more BS

All set, the area cleaned up and the units tested.

No leaks and all seems to work as it should.

This new washer seems to be far more complicated than a washer needs to be.

Dials, knobs, lights that blink, the lid locks and there are enough settings to confuse anyone.

Just selected NORMAL and punched START.

It hums, buzzes, whirs, then nothing, then lights come on, more buzzing and whirring, then finally a pitifully small amount of water comes in.

Then nothing, silence, total silence, then more buzzing and whiring, then finally this sorry excuse for an abbreviated agitator starts whizzing round and round then back and forth.

This goes on for a while, then it pumps out, then more silence followed by buzzing and whirring, then a drizzle of water, then more buzzing and whirring, then pumping.

    OMG
Drove me nuts watching this spectacle unfold.

Finally is rinses, and that was no less of a spectacle, with buzzing, whirring and other weird noises.

Finally it goes into the SPIN

    Wow, super quiet and smooth.

    OK
The clothes came out clean and almost dry.

Seems that the engineers have gone a bridge too far with the simple task of washing clothes.
Whatever happen'd to toss in clothes, add soap, press start, the beast fills with water then growls and sloshes about for 15 minutes then spins out adds rinse water, sloshes more then rattles the entire house for 5 minutes then shuts off.

Entire cycle from dirty to clean, about 20 minutes.

Now it's a 45 minute production of buzzing and whirring.

This is why I like old things.

My mom had a Maytag washer with a gas engine on it that made cool noises and had a lever on it to switch it from slosh to spin mode.

    How things have changed.

    All is well, FOR NOW

Just wait til the computer controller dies in that new beast . :picard:

I'm the very same way Snowy. Thank you, I'll take it from here. Glad to hear the project went well otherwise!

These two clowns were definitely not the brightest LED's in the carton.

    Buuuuuutttttt.

At least I did not have to haul them home and wreck my already hurting back lumping them inside.

We sold the old set the other night off a craig's list ad, and I had to muscle them suckers out and then haul them down in the Bobcat to the fellas trailer.

    Went smooth as silk.

Gotta finish today moping the floors and policing up the area.

Far better in the summer time task

there are still a lot of 3 wire dryer and stove pigtails on older units that need to be changed by NEC code

as long as you held the ends up so as not to let the electricity run out!

did the dude neglect to tell you about metal dryer pipe and braided washer hoses?

"[Mom] came naturally by her confused and groundless fears, for her own mother lived the latter years of her life in the horrible suspicion that electricity was dripping invisibly all over the house. It leaked, she contended, out of empty sockets if the wall switch had been left on. She would go around screwing in bulbs, and if they lighted up she would hastily and fearfully turn off the wall switch and go back to her Pearson's or Everybody's, happy in the satisfaction that she had stopped not only a costly but a dangerous leakage. Nothing could ever clear this up for her."

True and there is potential electricity in the air. We just haven't figured out how to herd it in my direction. :salute:

Sounds like ya got one of them ECO conserve He units that does everything except self balance, wait until you hit the first load that thumps really loud and when the damm thing stops the lump in the basket can't be lifted out by any normal gold medal winning Olympic weight lifter.

The idea is to save water, all while enhancing the revenues of the electric companies.
My dad always hated using the dishwasher cause it took too long.
Me, i dont care, they get done while I am in bed.

Unless you have a really dirty load, use the Quick Wash cycle - 27 minutes.

This one is the WED5000DW IIRC

    Whirlpool.

    From the Depot

The troops there told us to stay as far away from the Samsung as their customer service SUCKS

We bought the extended service plan, and it can be renewed before it expires.

These new units have enough electronics to choke a horse.

    Spendy too

We paid $1020 for the pair with the service plan
