FWIW, I tried an 064 and an MS361 on the same red oak tree today, and while the 064 was clearly faster, the 361 did surprisingly well despite being pounds lighter. That saw in Maryland, or another like it, would be a great choice for a general-purpose firewood saw.

361 is the best ALL AROUND FIREWOOD MAKER there is. Fits your description.

While that is a stihl of a deal, and a 361 is a good firewood saw. I personally prefer the 044/440, 372xp class of saws. My family owns me 372xp, Uncle Mike 044 and 441, Dad MS460. I know some of you guys will say 70+cc is a bit much, but if your a big boy the extra weight is a NON-issue. And I don't think there is any thing better than running a 72cc saw to make firewood. Shoot, my Uncle is 61 prefers his old 10mm 044, and has been running it making firewood since I was my daughters age.
But after saying all that, That 361 is a great deal. Just keep in mind your not going to be able to sling a 32 inch bar in a pinch on it. And a 372xp with a 24 inch bar is like a light saber through wood. Let either Terry or Randy port it and its a light saber on steriods. Good Luck, Matt

I would tell that seller on CL that you would pay him $55 to ship it. He will make at least an extra $20, even if he buys the box, packing materials, and tape from the P.O.

My offer would be $250 shipped. That is a good saw (great saw) I got rid of both of mine. The one went for $400 the same day. The other I traded for, but got back the money I had in it (almost $500 in that one, but it was clean. If you don't believe me, ask Devin86)

I really hope you get that saw...

But, that said, I do love 70cc saws. I personally have 4 of them now and love them. Until I got the 028 WB back, the 036 (62 cc) was my smallest saw). 044, 372, and the 460's are where it's at in terms of some fast cutting saws

You'll like that saw, but Dex is right on with the 70cc class saws, they'll do about anything you want if you don't mind the weight. I love my 046mag. It's big, it's loud, & it cuts fast. 361 will do anything you'll probably ever need, it's just faster with more cc's. A C

Does a 70cc rig cut faster than a 60cc rig. Depends.

Most of my firewood comes in the 4-20" range and I suspect this is typical of most. Virtually a dead heat if you are in pro saw territory. Same way a 261 or even a 290 holds its own against a 361 on a 10" log.

my muffler modded 390 which is 64 cc does not even touch the 372xp which is 71cc. That said tje 390 is a great saw and is not alow by anymeans. It whips my buddies unmodded 290s but.

How about an 041 Farm Boss for $200? This one is a reasonable distance for me.

Try 30+! 041 FarmBoss is an late 70's - early 80's saw. Great machine, not much in the way of safety features by modern standards but real strong (and heavy!) runners.
$200 - it had better look and run like new.
