Okay so what weekend did you want to do that guided hunt (you can guide ME for a buck like that!)

    UNREAL.......nice bucks!!

Here's.the biggest one I ever shot back in 2002, grossed mid 140's, dressed out at 165lbs. Big ol' mountain buck.

We do have some giants around here, most of the guys around here go further south in ohio to hunt but I like to hunt closer to home. With my job its hard to get away for many weekends. But I can find big deer close to home with a little work.

Thought you said you didn't have any decent size deer in PA? That is one heck of a buck.

Thought you guys might enjoy this picture taken on October 1. I have a deer blind right behind where the camera was but only use that blind during rifle season. There are 4 bucks there but one is super small. The largest one is on the right and he shows up nicely in the second picture.

So ehh, Ill be the first one that posts a pic of a normal size deer. Hit it on a run, barely. 300 win mag ruger m77 Usually hunt with my 30-06 win model 70 (pre64) but wanted some luck, caught this guy chasing a doe. Sadly for my Uncle, who owns the land, the doe ran right past his stand. I was a bit late getting out of the cabin, and instead of going to my stand, decided to push towards my Uncles and Fathers stands. Just got lucky.

This guy fell to the 270 short mag, Im going nuts trying to find the pic my big one. This fella was a slick sob, pops let two rounds fly from his Model 70 featherweight in 270 (standard) and I dunno, should have been flinging .30 at him cause up here in the mountains you have serious brush to contend with. Well any way, poor boy came running from pops side of the property right to his death. This deer has solidified my belief in at least .30 cal and 165 grns for mountain duty, but pops is just too in love with his 270 to change his mind.

Ill tell you guys the story of my big one, I was 18, logger had worked my uncles land that summer and fall. He says "hey Jr (pops is Matt Sr) your stand is that one all the way on the other side of your Uncles land right, (I nod) he tells me at 7:18 a giant seven pointer is gonna walk down the trail I just made with the skidder. Its missing the brown tine on the left side. biggest buck I seen on the mountain all year, don't fall asleep, 7:18" I look at him in disbelief, and think he is pulling my chain. So opening morning its so freaking cold Im doing everything to keep still. Then I see a brown blob all the way across this 20 acre opening on the land. He is slowly walking toward me, Im shaking but trying desperately to stay calm. I keep telling myself DO NOT SHOOT YET, he is coming closer. It seemed like it took forever, but eventually he goes behind a tree that is blocking my view. I kinda panic and decide that when he walks out from behind the tree Im gonna take him. He steps out and I drop him. I could have waited for him to walk closer, but after loosing sight of him once, I was afraid to loose sight again. He makes both the other deer I posted look like puppies, big wide beam, but only seven points. Nice long points but only seven.

Just talked to a friend tonight and found out a mutual acquaintance hunts very close to where I do. He had been chasing the same deer for the same three years I have. He actually has sheds from a few years from the buck. Apparently he missed him last year with his bow, poor guy was heartbroken when he was told the buck was dead. Going to set up a time to get together and look at the sheds from him, talk about the deer from stories we have over the years.

Seeing Boogs pic reminded me of this deer a friend got opening morning a few years back. I watched him the night before following a doe. He shot and hit him twice.
