With temps that dropped down into the single digits Saturday afternoon and into the negatives with windchill overnight and up to 10 without windchill throughout the day today, the Canyon stove really got a workout. I'm still burning Envi-8 bricks, and 3 bricks is able to maintain a 73 degree temp for 3-4 hours. While the Envi-8's are merely a bridge to get me to my own wood next year, I can say that I am very happy with the performance of the Envi-8 bricks. In fact, I am heading to get another 1 ton pallet this week. That will make three tons for this heating season. Last year I burned three cord of wood and 1 ton of Envi-8 bricks. This year seems to be headed right on par.
I bought a pack of the wood bricks. Next time I light the kicker stove, I'll get a good fire and then reload with only the bricks and asses them again. I have only burnt them one at a time with a couple of splits and not that impressed so far. Not bad, mind you, just not better.
