How did you meet your Sweetie?

We were at a wedding of mutual friends. I had went alone and she was with her boyfriend. At the reception her boyfriend was drunk and I started talking to her. After 36 years I still think her boyfriend got the best end of the deal!

I met my sweetie in high school. She was my girlfriends best friend. Broke up with said girl after I graduated. About a year and a half later we run into each other. Yada yada yada...will be married for 13 years in March.

 

I met my wife after college when I was working at a hospital. Her mother was working in another department and ya know the gabbin' got around that she had a daughter that was single. My buddy found out she worked for an airline, maybe as a flight attendant. She probably dated pilots and went around the country. I almost didn't ask her out. It turns out she worked in reservations, and in a cubicle in Boston.

So that was 19 years ago, and we will be married 15 years this May. She is no doubt my soulmate.

 

High school sweethearts....been happily married for six year....1995, 1999, 2005, 2008, 2012 and 2014

 

Mutual friends got my sweetie and I together. Met her in Bangor, and picked her up on my way (5 hrs) to Van Buren for a Halloween gig. We'd been talking on the phone for 2 weeks straight, every night, but hadn't met until that afternoon. We were married 8 months later. She's put up with me for 40 years this coming June.

OK, my wife and I met in 1994, she was beautiful then (and still is) but she wouldn't date me.. Her little sister dated a good friend for 5 years so we kept seeing each other... kept telling me no... OK in my youth I had a chip on my shoulder and my fair share of arrogance.

Wifes mother (widowed when wife was 3 never re- married) But she lived in Vermont and fixing things were not her strength.. So I would come fix a toilet, unclog a sink... whatever... To get some good home cooking... this was an ongoing thing for YEARS..

I had MY share of bad relationship.. She one she just couldn't end, with an addict, well one day she had enough and moved in with her mom.. so her 3 year old daughter, 2 sibling dogs, lab retrievers. I knew from experience she trusted her big male dog more than any man..

Wife uncle (dad brother) passed and she had to go to orange Co NY for funeral and arrangements. Called me up asked me if I would watch dogs for a week.. I of course said yes.. I decided to "date " the dog, made bacon grilled steaks took dogs for walk. let old boy wander. he thought this was so much better than the Condo.

When wife came to get dogs week later, the dogs that went everywhere with her.. would not get in car! So she said I will come get them tomorrow. We'll 5 weeks later she said My dogs are living here so can I... and rest is history.. We were always good friends. I never have been happier .. 8 years later.. I did tell her Her.. Since it took you 20 years to marry me.. if you ask for a divorce you have to wait same 20 years..by then I will be to old to care... She laughed.. When you get the right one life is good

I met my wife on match.com. We'd crossed paths several times and never knew it. She used to live a few houses away behind the gas station/repair garage I worked at while in high school and a couple years of college. I knew her grandma from the full serve pumps and oil changes in her car. Later on in life, she worked as a travel agent in the building next door to where I had my first IT job. We met in 2001, got married in 2003 and for reasons that I'm not completely sure of, she has put up with me since.

 

Met on Yahoo Personals......she was visiting her sister in Texas and sent a message that started the conversation. After a few weeks we discovered we had graduated from the same high school but never knew each other. Dated for 1 1/2 years and celebrated our 10th anniversary last Sept. She is the greatest gift God ever blessed me with.....still on the honeymoon.

I had set the distance to 50 mile radius...it had been a month or so, I widened the search one day just to see...she popped up at 51 miles away...she saw that I checked out her profile and sent me a message after she saw where I was from...her moms hometown! We talked for a while and then met in person at her uncles house who it turns out, was kinda my bosses boss at the time, and he is X po po, I found out later that he had me checked out before we met! We had so many weird things that we have found out about each along the way.
1. My former BIL was married to her aunt many years ago
2. The same former BIL worked for her dad many years ago too.
3. Her 3rd cousin is married to my Xs niece. What is really crazy is that she had never met him...but I had known him for years!
I know there are others that I am forgetting right now. Bottom line is you think you meet someone that lives over an hour away you should be safe from all the small town co-inky-dinks...ah, no.
Today was our 7th V day together and we are just over a year into being parents to our lil dude, it has been good, real good! (she puts up with my wood heat obsession and my hours on FHC so what not to like?!)
Oh, I almost forgot, we just helped her parents move back to her mamas hometown a couple weeks ago...2 miles down the road...who would have ever guessed?! So now all of my immediate family and half of hers is within a 5 minute drive from us, pretty cool!

 

Grade 11. There was this really cute blonde, blue eyed guy wearing tight blue jeans and had an awesome smile. Walking down Main street, my girlfriend and I met him walking up the street with a living room armchair on his head. He stopped and asked me out for a date. How could I say no to that? We will have been married 44 years come March!!

 

That is one way to pick up girls! Just carry a armchair around on your head!

A lot of great memories being shared here. I "like" them all.
My only clear one was "the Look".
A bar in Idaho Springs, July '95. After some chit-chat, we started to shoot a few games of pool. Being pretty full of myself, I started offering pointers. At some point, she was lining up for a bank shot. I must of said something, 'cause she looked over her shoulder at me, had that smirk on her face I've come to know and love that said,- "Buddy, you're so full of chit." I saw that look and I was sunk. I knew, right then and there.
