Yes, 97 was the summer the -10 tonight. I'll reset it at some point when it starts to warm up.

Wearther.com was showing -2 for us at that point. The cheap thermometer may not be 100% accurate but we always end up colder than the weather sites. I've verified the difference to my cars thermometers in the past and its typically within a few degrees +/-. When weather.com was showing -6 it still showed -10 so who knows. Either way last night was the coldest it recorded this season.

This is 12 hrs later with a STT of 275°ish.

Doesn't look like much, but just using the coal rake and scraping the ash off the top reveals a stove full of coals.

3 new splits on this and they were lit in seconds.

During the week I never burn/reload in the morning and there is plenty of coals for a no match relight when I get home from work.

OK, I cleaned the ashes out of my Quadrafire 4100i. IMG_20160214_121249298.jpg

Then a pretty full reload. I like big splits and I cannot lie IMG_20160214_121418053.jpg

Beech and elm. Both American varieties.

I'm trying to keep coals to the front to clean the glass. The left side of the glass seems to not clear itself as well as the right side.

I love the stoves with the protruding glass.

I do too. I think having the bay/ bow window doesn't help with the airwash though.

I got it for a smoking deal, so I shouldn't complain that the firebox is a little small.

Don't usually go out of my way for fillers but loading early tonight. 11* right now and it's supposed to warm slightly as the night goes on so we should be ok. I'm thinking the cold snap we had the last little bit will be the last of the nasty stuff this season. :)

A little warmer tonight so burning some nasties I was putting to the side when the cold stuff was here. The plus to the cold is my glass is clean minus the white haze/fly ash. Should darken up in the coming days. :)

    Mine is cold and dark...

I worked late tonight. And its around 30°. So the pellet furnace will have to burn an extra pound or two of pellets. But with 6 more ton on the way? We're not worried about it!!

I am learning from this thread that I don't load my stove nearly as full as some of you do! I will have to experiment a little.

Yup, mid 30s for me. About a quarter load lit off at 10:30. Just to hold the chill at bay till the "Sun comes up tomorrow".
