I got with Tractor Supply had in stock on the stove pipe; wasn't sure about the install on 45s; I am guessing one 45 at the flue, straight pipe, then 45 at thimble?

Yes, I am going to be so warm. I probably could run around the house in me unmentionables :)

Yeah, more or less. You may need to put a short piece of pipe under the 45 at the stove, or after the 45 at the chimney, maybe both, to get things to line up right

From what I understand your normal house temperatures were around 55 degrees?
What kind of temps you getting in there now?
Next couple of loads it will get even better

Congratulations on the first fires in your new stove installation. Now it is practice, practice, practice by using it as much as you can. Looks really nice. I like your hearth pad as well.

My setup is measured from where the stove sits on the floor, then a 2 foot stove pipe, add a 90* elbow, then another 2 foot section to the wall which then heads into the adapter for double wall to single, then 16 inches from there using the single wall pipe to go through the 6 inch fire clay thimble to connect to a tee where part drops almost to ground level where there is another tee for the cleanout. Where it leaves the tee going up, it might only be about 6 to 7 feet. This is inside a brick and mortar fireclay lined chimney. I only increased the height of the pipe itself to extend about a foot above that chimney which brings it up to about 12 feet with an additional foot for the rain cap and spark arrestor if I remember correctly.(stainless steel liner inside the brick and fireclay chimney)

So I too have two 90's for the smoke to travel up.

Does this look like I have a draft problem? That's two small to medium splits with the draft opened about a 8th.

OK, in Fs, the thermometer on the furnace switch which is across the room near the dinning area displayed 71 F from the last firing and the thermometer beside the kitchen door displayed 61F. lounge/kitchen is like a big L. I let the stove cool down between firings as stated in the manual.

I'm not questioning your install. But what works for one person with one stove, will vary for another.

Heck Backwoods Savage only has 9' on his Woodstock (cat) stove and it works for him. (9 ft IIRC).

But her install, and her house, with her land layout, and wind direction? May need more.

I'd like at least 12' regardless of the manufacturer. The more pipe (hot pipe) you have? The more gooder! IMHO!

True enough. For me I calculated the optimal height of the pipe for my place. I know during my install, if I had listened to everyone, I would have needed the height to be 50 feet above the roof line. (from local folk) It's those same ones I drive or ride by going to town and see smoke coming from their chimneys. My return trip I see the same smoke coming out of the same chimneys several hours later. Mine only smokes for about 10 to 15 minutes on a cold start.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I also have vermiculite insulating the space between the liner and the fireclay of the brick chimney to keep the chimney warmer and keep the formation of creosote down.

I had an install that was 12' from the floor to the chimney cap. Drafted great. Never a smoke spill. Surrounded by trees. 8" pipe. Double door Sierra, pre EPA.
But it was straight up, no 90s.
As stated, every install is different.

Yes, it is, and I love the nice large glass door so I can sit and watch the fire burn.

CONGRATS!! Glad to know you're up and burning Kimberly! You may want to trade some of your semi-seasoned wood to a FHC member near you! I'm sure a few are near to help you out. I just skimmed through all of the posts, so forgive me if I'm double talkin'. LOL
Nothing better than that nice warm fire!! :fire:

Don't know if anyone suggested it or if you figured it out on your own yet, but leave some splits alongside the stove while it's burning and this will also help dry them out.
But leave them there for a week or so...
