Very little left here and what is left is pretty much all in the woods. Well, there are still some big chunks from that one batch of rain/sleet/snow we got. Terrible stuff that was.

I've plowed snow exactly 2 times and hope I don't have to do any more this winter. One forecast had us at 6-10" tomorrow then they dropped it some and again have dropped it to 3-6". I'm betting they will do like NOAA has and forecast snow showers only.

There was one other time I could have plowed when we got 7" but that was in November and I knew it would not stay. It didn't.

There is very little snow left here. Mostly what's left is patches in heavily shaded areas, and where the plow pushed the snow from our last storm. The ground is frozen solid though. I tried driving a 12" nail into the ground to use as pilot holes for some fiberglass poles and barely made a mark on the ground.

From years past, February is usually the worst month for snow and low temperatures for this area. Two years ago this area received 29 inches of snow about mid month over the course of 24 hours.

Tomorrow this area is expecting rain and snow, then it's not supposed to get above 32 degrees for about a week.

I doubt anyone gets snow like you do on the Keweenaw peninsula. In our worst winters we might get 20 feet total which is a walk in the park out your way. Right now we're in a deep freeze with blue skies and hardly any wind. Just the way it should be this time of year.

Yeah that deep freeze has made it to the 45th parallel :shiver: Jay Peak mountain slightly east of me normally gets 300 plus inches a year of natural snow only at 100 so far a bad snow year for sure...

Roughly 3" still on the ground. Melting quickly. Hopefully will get more soon.

Couple inches of snow last night but the deep freeze is taking over. Going to get cold tonight and a high of zero F tomorrow. Tonight we're going to load the stove right up and then open the draft about one quarter of the way. This will keep the cat lit right up all night and the glass clean and us warm. We'll be at about minus 30 C come daybreak.

The 24 inches we had, melted pretty good, but like ranger bob, we have a deep freeze moving in. We keep getting a dusting of snow here and there now!

At 8 am its minus 31 C which is 25 below zero for normal thermometers. Put a big fire on at midnight and it was 70 degrees when I got up. Had to leave the door to the mudroom open a bit so the minnow pail wouldn't freeze. That creates a nasty draft but you gotta do what you gotta do. As soon as the sun hits the mudroom windows I will be able to close the door tight again. Looks like tonight will be a repeat and then moderating on Valentine's Day. How cold did it get along the NH/NY/Quebec/Maine border last night? About the same I'm guessing.

Tonight and tomorrow are supposed to be our cold nights, it's early yet, but it is 0* F and with the wind it's -22 F, It'll be quite colder by the morn.. I'm not on the northern boarder, I'm on the southern NH boarder. Those folks up there are into the cold but good.

Here is what we are enjoying.......................

    24 PM EST Saturday 13 February 2016
Extreme Cold Warning in effect for:
    • Barry's Bay - Killaloe
    • Petawawa - Pembroke - Cobden
    • Renfrew - Arnprior - Calabogie

A period of very cold wind chills is expected.

The coldest air of the season has settled across Central and Eastern Ontario for the weekend as a large Arctic high pressure slowly settles eastward across the Great Lakes.

Wind chills of minus 35 to minus 40 are expected once again later tonight into Sunday morning bitterly cold arctic air continues to be ushered in by north to northwest winds.

Slow improvement of the wind chills is expected on Valentine's Day afternoon as the strengthening February sun helps to moderate this frigid Arctic air mass, with temperatures inching upward a few degrees.

Somewhat milder weather along with continued improvement in the wind chill department is expected on Family Day Monday.
